FanDuel NBA: Monday Value Plays

FanDuel NBA: Monday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NBA series.

Monday's seven-game slate provides us with enough options without being overwhelming. There are some injuries to be aware of, but the biggest name is Anthony Davis (hip), who will be a game-time decision against the Celtics. If he's sidelined for a second straight game, Julius Randle makes for an enticing DFS play.

Point Guard
Eric Bledsoe ($7,400), MIL at CHA
Bledsoe is coming off his second double-double against the season Saturday, dropping 20 points, 10 assists, four rebounds and two steals (43.8 fantasy points) against the Spurs. Regardless of how he achieves it, 40 fantasy points is the kind of upside we're looking for at Bledsoe's price. He's reached that mark five times this season, three of which occurred over the past five contests. The Bucks face the Hornets on Monday, and Charlotte has struggled containing point guards. Over the past 10 games, the Hornets have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to the position, including the second-most assists and fourth-most rebounds.

Shooting Guard
Jeremy Lamb ($6,500), CHA vs. MIL
Lamb's fantasy production has been far too consistent lately for me to avoid his $6,500 price. He's reached at least 30 fantasy points in six of the past eight games and is averaging 32.4 FP over that stretch. Lamb's high mark was 38.5 fantasy points against the 76ers, where he dropped 20 points, 10 boards, three assists and a steal in 39 minutes. At his price, Lamb appears to be a strong option in both cash and tournaments, even if his matchup wasn't especially favorable. But his matchup makes the decision easier, as the Bucks have allowed the most fantasy points to shooting guards over the past 10 games, including the most points, second-most assists and most steals.

Small Forward
Jabari Parker ($7,500), CHI vs. SA
Parker's overall season is maybe not what some fantasy owners, notably in year-long leagues, hoped it would be. He's been a tough DFS play at times too behind some subpar shooting and lack of supplementary stats (mostly assists, steals and blocks). But he gets the nod Monday due to his most recent three-game stretch. Parker has looked aggressive, averaging 15.3 field-goal attempts and 7.3 free-throw attempts (13.8 FGA and 2.4 FTA prior). That's resulted in him averaging 45.8 fantasy points over the past three contests, including an outburst of 50.6 FP (20 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists and two steals) against the Suns. Monday's opponent, San Antonio, hasn't been great defending forwards lately. Over the past 10 games, the Spurs are giving up the seventh-most fantasy points to small forwards and the 10th-most fantasy points to power forwards.

Power Forward
LaMarcus Aldridge ($8,500), SA at CHI
Saturday's game against Milwaukee was one of Aldridge's worst performances of the year, as he supplied just 23.1 fantasy points in 30 minutes. That's far from we've come to expect from Aldridge, as the veteran is posting 1.1 fantasy points per minute. Saturday's dud shouldn't discourage DFS owners to deploy Aldridge on Monday. He's still reached at least 50 fantasy points on four occasions this season and will be going up against a struggling Bulls team. Chicago has not been effective in defending opposing teams' frontcourts, allowing the ninth-most fantasy points to power forwards and second-most fantasy points to centers over the past 10 contests.

Center
Clint Capela ($8,600), HOU at WAS
Capela seems difficult to avoid if you aren't trying to pay a premium price for Karl-Anthony Towns ($10,800) or deploy Nikola Vucevic ($9,000) against the Warriors, who have allowed the fewest fantasy points to centers over the past 10 games. There's also a pretty steep drop-off in talent after Capela, Rudy Gobert ($8,100) and Julius Randle ($7,800), who is a strong option if Anthony Davis (hip) is sidelined. This isn't to say I'm picking Capela because I dislike every other option, but he does feel overpriced to me. He posted three monster games in a row from Nov. 17 through Nov. 23, averaging 60.5 fantasy points. Prior to that, he had only crossed the 45-fantasy-point threshold three times. All things considered, it feels safe to chalk Capela up for about 35-40 fantasy points, but I wouldn't necessarily be playing him Monday expecting 5x value on a $8,600 price.
