Pelicans Defeat Grizzlies, 126-116
The New Orleans Pelicans defeated the host Memphis Grizzlies, 126-1126, at FedEx Forum on Monday.

While there were six ties and five lead changes in the first quarter, that was the only time Memphis was in this game. In fact, New Orleans rode a 38-20 second quarter to a 17-point halftime lead and the Pelicans could never get the game within a five-point margin after that. Three-point shooting was the difference, with the Pelicans hitting 21-of-48 and the Grizzlies connecting on just 9-of-33. In addition, New Orleans shot 88 percent from the free-throw line while the Grizzlies shot just 71 percent on three fewer attempts.

The Pelicans (17-27) were led by Jrue Holiday and his 36 points, six rebounds and two steals on 7-of-10 from three-point range. Brandon Ingram accrued 25 points, four rebounds, six assists and two blocks. Lonzo Ball collected eight points, nine rebounds and five assists while Nicolo Melli led the bench with 15 points, five rebounds, three assists and two blocks.

The Grizzlies (20-23) were led by Dillon Brooks, who amassed 31 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals. Ja Morant generated 16 points, three rebounds and nine assists. Jaren Jackson Jr totaled 19 points, six rebounds and two blocks while Jonas Valanciunas finished with 14 points, 11 rebounds and two steals.

Both teams return to action on Wednesday, with Memphis traveling to face the Boston Celtics and New Orleans returning home to play the San Antonio Spurs.
