Donald Sloan

After spending the last two seasons as a backup guard for the Pacers, Sloan signed a training-camp deal with the Nets to fight for a roster spot. In 53 games last season, he averaged 7.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.8 three-pointers in 21 minutes per game. Sloan shot 41 percent from the field, 31 percent from the three-point line, and 78 percent from the free-throw line. The Nets are the fifth team Sloan has played for as he enters his fifth season in the NBA. He is predominately a journeyman backup in the with a decent opportunity of earning a spot with consistent minutes on the Nets. His only competition for minutes is the unproven Shane Larkin and Ryan Boatright. Sloan is not a great shooter but did play admirably when he started for the injury-depleted Pacers last season. Sloan is a gritty, hard working guard who may fit well into Lionel Hollin's coaching style.
