Exum began the season with the Jazz. He appeared in 11 games for Utah, averaging 2.2 points and 1.1 rebounds in 7.5 minutes. He shot 43.5 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from three and 100 percent from the free-throw line. On Dec. 23, he was traded from the Jazz to the Cavaliers. He proceeded to appear in 24 games for Cleveland, averaging 5.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 16.8 minutes. Exum shot 47.9 percent from the field, 35.1 percent from three and 73.2 percent from the free-throw line. Overall, his 34.9 percent mark from three on the season was a career high. Exum set a new single-game career high with 28 points Jan. 5 against the Timberwolves. His other single-game season highs stood at eight rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks. Exum appeared in 42 games for the Utah Jazz during the 2018-2019 campaign. He averaged 6.9 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per contest. Exum scored in double figures on 11 occasions. October was Exum's best month of the season, during which he averaged 10.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per tilt. On Nov. 17, Exum matched a career-high with seven rebounds at Boston. On Dec. 27, he poured in a season-high 20 points against Philadelphia. He also hit a season-high three treys in that contest. Arguably Exum's best game of the season came in the subsequent tilt in which he notched a double-double with 13 points and a career-best 13 assists in the Dec. 29 home victory over the Knicks. That win over New York was Exum's lone start of the season. Exum tallied at least five assists in six contests. A left ankle injury, suffered during a Jan. 5 game versus the Pistons, forced Exum to miss 25 games. He returned to play three games in early March before hurting his knee in a Mar. 14 game against the T-Wolves. That injury resulted in surgery to fix a partially torn patella tendon in his right knee and forced Exum to miss the remainder of the season.2017
Exum appeared in 14 games for the Utah Jazz during the 2017-2018 campaign. He averaged career-highs in points (8.1) and assists (3.1) per tilt, while also snatching 1.9 rebounds per contest. The young point guard missed the first 68 games of the season due to a separated shoulder and recovery from the resulting October surgery. He made his season-debut with the Jazz on Mar. 15 and posted 10 points, three rebounds and two assists in 14 minutes of play during a win at Phoenix. Exum scored in double figures in five regular season contests. He poured in a season-high 21 points against Memphis on Mar. 30. Exum tallied at least five assists in three contests. Exum also appeared in 10 playoff games for the Jazz. He averaged 11.4 minutes per contest during the playoffs. Exum managed 5.1 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.0 assists per playoff clash. He was particularly potent off the bench in the Western Conference Semifinals versus the Houston Rockets. Exum played at least 10 minutes in all four games he appeared. Exum played in 66 games, with 26 starts, during the 2016-17 season. After missing all of the prior campaign due to a knee injury, Exum returned on opening night, Oct. 25, and came off the bench to provide five points and two rebounds in under 10 minutes. Just five days later in Los Angeles, he scored 10 points and dished out 2 assists, playing in over 25 minutes. On Nov. 11, Exum received his first start of the season and posted four points, four rebounds and two assists over 22 minutes of run during a win at Orlando. In a March 11 loss to Oklahoma City, Exum scored a career-high 22 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field. The Jazz made it to Round 2 of the postseason, and Exum played in seven of Utah's 11 games. During a Game 4 loss to Golden State, Exum posted 15 points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal. The young point guard also missed games in January and December due to knee tendinitis.2015
In August of 2015, while playing for his native Australia in an international exhibition game against Slovenia, Exum suffered a torn ACL in his left knee. The 20-year-old point guard missed the entirety of the 2015-16 NBA season recovering from the surgery.2014
Dante Exum was drafted with the fifth overall pick by the Utah Jazz during the 2014 NBA Draft. The 19-year-old Australian played in all 82 games for Utah, with 41 starts, and averaged 4.8 points and 2.4 assists per game. Exum made his NBA debut on opening night, Oct. 29 and delivered five points, one assist and one steal in just under 10 minutes of play. He blossomed into a regular contributor for the Jazz, scoring 11 points and adding five assists in a Nov. 7 game against Dallas. Exum received his first career start on Jan. 5 versus the Pacers and generated 13 points. Against Milwaukee on Jan. 22. In that game, Exum started and scored a season-high 15 points and compiling five assists as the Jazz won by two points. The Milwaukee win cemented Exum's spot in the starting lineup, as he started Utah's final 40 games. The rookie point guard had arguably his best game on Mar. 8 in a win at Brooklyn. During the victory, Exum shot 5-of-6 from the field and posted 14 points, four rebounds, one assists and one block over 28 minutes of run. On Apr. 1, Exum dished a season-high 12 assists during a home win over the Nuggets. The rookie had 14 games with five or more assists.
