A second-round pick in 2016, Qi finally made the trek over to the United States and joined Houston for his rookie season. However, he was essentially just emergency depth for most of the year and ended up seeing action in a total of 18 games. Instead, Qi worked on his development in the G-League with with the Rockets' affiliate, playing in 24 games and posting averages of 11.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks across 25.9 minutes. His role isn't likely to change much heading into his sophomore year. Clint Capela is locked into a starting role and Nene Hilario is set to be his backup. With the Rockets also potentially experimenting with some small-ball lineups, Qi will likely spend the bulk of the season on the bench once again.
