Teodosic agreed Saturday with Italian team Virtus Bologna on a three-year, $5 million contract, Nikos Varlas of Eurohoops.net reports.
ANALYSIS
After announcing his intention to leave the NBA shortly after being released by the Clippers in February, Teodosic has finally settled on a new home. Though he fielded offers from several EuroLeague clubs, he ultimately accepted a deal with a EuroCup team in Virtus Bologna, which also competes in the Italian Legabasket. The 32-year-old's NBA career is almost certainly over given his advancing age and underwhelming two-year stint with Los Angeles.

After being on NBA team's radars for years, the Clippers finally convinced Teodosic to come to the United States last offseason, signing a two-year, $12.3 million contract. He wound up starting 36 of the 45 games he played in, but then dealt with a plantar fascia injury that forced him to miss nearly half the season. Teodosic didn't make as big of an impact as expected as a facilitator right away, but he did average 4.6 assists across 25.2 minutes. He also added 9.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 three-pointers, while shooting a better than expected 37.9 percent from the field. Still, it was a disappointing showing for a player that had such high expectations and the recurring nature of plantar fasciitis does bring about plenty of concern for his ability to stay healthy throughout his career. After trading away Austin Rivers this offseason, the Clippers drafted Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who will likely compete with Teodosic for the backup point guard job behind Patrick Beverley. Beverley is actually coming back from a fairly significant injury of his own, so if he's not the same player he was prior to going down or if he does suffer some sort of setback, there's a chance Teodosic or Gilgeous-Alexander could get a look with the top unit. Still, with a logjam at the position, Teodosic will likely struggle to post numbers worthy of Fantasy consideration in the bulk of leagues and his situation is merely a position battle to watch heading into training camp.
Teodosic, widely regarded as the one of the top players in Europe, has finally decided to come to the United States after spending several years on the NBA radar. The 30-year-old, with his 6-foot-5 frame, has great size, excellent vision, and a solid stroke from three, which the Clippers are hoping will translate in the NBA. Last season, with CSKA Moscow of the VTB United League, Teodosic posted 16.1 points (on 38.1 percent from deep) and 6.8 assists per game across 27.6 minutes per game. The real question for Teodosic, though, will be whether or not he can compete defensively. He wasn’t a notably great defender overseas and his athletic prime is behind him. So, while Bill Oram of the OC Register reported that Teodosic came to Los Angeles under the impression that he would be the starter, certain matchups may favor Patrick Beverley, an elite defender, at the point guard slot instead. There’s no doubt that Teodosic is a risky pick-up from a Fantasy perspective, though early indications point to him garnering a consistent workload. His excellent court vision should also pair nicely with Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, who both run in transition and are some of the best lob finishers in the league.

Teodosic revealed in a recent interview that he plans to return to Europe after the Clippers' season concludes, if not sooner, Antonis Stroggylakis of EuroHoops.net reports. "I think I definitely won't stay [in the NBA] because...I came, I saw how it looks and somehow...I enjoy more and it's nicer for me to play in Europe," Teodosic said. "So, I will return to Europe for sure, will it be during this season or at the end, we'll see."
