ANALYSIS Metu represents one of the more intriguing options among players waived following the trade deadline, as the 6-foot-9 forward possesses enticing fluidity at his size. That being said, he was not conducive to winning during his tenure in Phoenix posting a minus-9.1 net rating across 448 minutes of action this season.
Metu put together the best season of his career last year, ending as the 186th ranked player, with averages of 8.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 1.0 three-pointers. While he has certainly done enough to be an every-night part of the rotation, there is a decent chance his playing time reduces moving forward. He will likely battle with Trey Lyles for backup minutes, a scenario that could see him lose out, at least initially. However, if the Kings fall out of the playoff picture later in the campaign, he could move up the pecking order, making him a player to monitor as the season progresses.
Metu played very limited minutes for a majority of last season but was given plenty of opportunities toward the end of the campaign because of injuries to the Kings' other big men. In his final eight games of the year, six of which were starts, the 24-year-old averaged 10.3 points and 5.1 rebounds over 25.5 minutes per game. However, given the offseason additions of veteran centers Alex Len and Tristan Thompson, Metu is unlikely to maintain that level of playing time and probably won't be relevant in most fantasy formats.
