2019 Fantasy Outlook
Jackson's rookie season was cut short due to injury, but he was impressive in 58 appearances. The Michigan State product averaged 13.8 points, 4.7 boards and 2.3 combined blocks/steals across 26.1 minutes per contest en route to an All-Rookie First Team selection. Those averages increased substantially in 20 games with at least 30 minutes, going for 18.7 points, 6.0 boards and 3.0 combined steals/blocks. The big man showed promise as a three-point shooter, canning 1.0 triples per game at a serviceable 35.9 percent clip. Jackson has enormous upside as the starting power forward on a rebuilding team, and he's likely to see an increase in playing time in his sophomore campaign. Jackson is an excellent two-way player who can provide valuable fantasy production on both ends of the court. The 19-year-old projects as an early-to-mid round pick across most season-long formats and even more valuable as a dynasty league prospect. Read Past Outlooks

Undergoes successful surgery

Knee
August 19, 2020
Jackson (knee) has undergone successful surgery to repair his torn left meniscus, Evan Barnes of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.
ANALYSIS
It was announced Aug. 4 that Jackson suffered a torn meniscus and would be out for the remainder of the season. Without him, the Grizzlies were not able to hold onto a playoff spot and were eliminated during the play-in, losing to the Trail Blazers during the first game of a possible two. A firm timetable for Jackson's return has not been established, but it seems likely the big man will be ready in time for the 2020-21 season. Early estimates are that the campaign will begin sometime between January and March. In 2019-20, as a second-year player, he averaged 17.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 1.4 assists. Jackson also emerged as a legitimate three-point threat, hitting 2.5 per game at 39.4 percent.

2019

During Jackson's sophomore NBA season, he posted career highs nearly across the board. In his 57 appearances with the Grizzlies, Jackson averaged 17.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 1.4 assists in 28.5 minutes. The big man also found himself on the NBA's leaderboards, ranking 13th in total blocks (92) and eighth in block percentage (5.0). During the second game of the season, Oct. 25 against the Bulls, Jackson posted his first of three double-doubles, recording 23 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 32 minutes. Against the Bucks on Dec. 13, Jackson scored a career-high 43 points in addition to five rebounds, one assist and one block in 29 minutes. On Dec. 29 in a 13-point win over the Hornets, Jackson recorded a career-high 12 rebounds in addition to 14 points and two blocks in 25 minutes. He tied his career-high seven blocks during a win over Denver on Jan. 28, also recording 10 points, two rebounds and one assist in 31 minutes. Jackson also made three appearances in the NBA bubble before suffering a torn meniscus. In those three seeding games, he averaged 25.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.3 steals in 36.7 minutes. Jackson's best overall stretch of the season was 12 games from Dec. 20 through Jan. 12. During those contests, he averaged 20.1 points -- 52.1 FG%, 45.3 3Pt%, 71.8 FT% -- 5.5 rebounds, 2.8 combined blocks-plus-steals and 1.6 assists.

2018

Jackson came out of the NCAA and right into the Grizzlies' starting lineup. The fourth overall pick was successfully able to transfer his athletic skills from Michigan State, recording season stats of 13.8 PPG and 1.4 BPG. He'd also hit 50.6 percent from the field, 70.6 percent from the line, and 35.9 percent from three-point range. Jackson even led all freshmen and finished seventh in the league with a 5.13 Block percentage. He started his habit of filling the scoresheet in his second game by racking up 24 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks. Jackson's first double-double would come on Nov. 12. But everyone eventually took notice at the end of the month when he went off for 36 at Brooklyn. And just to prove that performance wasn't a fluke, 23 of the next 29 matchups would result in him scoring at least 11 points. However, due to a thigh injury, his season was cut short with 23 games to go. Regardless of that setback, Jackson was rewarded for his impressive debut with a place on the first All-Rookie team.

2018 Fantasy Outlook
Jackson was nabbed by the Grizzlies with the fourth overall pick after just one season at Michigan State. The 18-year-old averaged 10.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 3.0 blocks while draining 39.6 percent of his 2.7 three-point attempts per contest. At 6-foot-11, Jackson certainly has the size to fill in at the five if necessary, although he's currently projected to compete with JaMychal Green for the starting power forward role. Given his impressive two-way skills and Memphis' overall lack of depth, Jackson could play a significant role right from the onset of his first pro campaign, especially if the returning Mike Conley is subject to any early-season limitations that create even more of a need for offensive contributions. Moreover, taking Marc Gasol's own impressive floor-spacing skills into account, Jackson stands to benefit from plenty of one-on-one matchups that his skill set should allow him to capitalize on.
