Ends college career
FPittsburgh
May 10, 2021
Champagnie's agent, Todd Ramasar, confirmed Monday that his client will give up his remaining collegiate eligibility to enter the 2021 NBA Draft, Jonathan Givony of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coming off a breakout sophomore season in which he averaged 18.0 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.3 blocks, 1.2 steals and 1.2 three-pointers in 34.4 minutes per game, Champagnie will forgo his final three years at Pittsburgh to get his professional career underway. When accounting for the fact the he won't turn 20 years old until late June, Champagnie's production this past season is particularly impressive, and could help boost his chances of hearing his name called in the second round of the draft. His departure leaves a near-irreplaceable void in the Pittsburgh frontcourt, but the Panthers will likely turn to Oakland transfer Daniel Oladapo to do what he can to fill in for Champagnie in 2021-22.
