January 9, 2013
Bell, a running back from Michigan State, will enter the 2013 NFL Draft, the Detroit Free Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Bell is a big runner who should measure in around 6-foot-1, 240 pounds, possessing a build and a lean not dissimilar to that of LeGarrette Blount. Bell is a lot more reliable and versatile, however, showing an ability to stay on the field for passing downs. The downside is Bell seems to lack speed, perhaps to the point that he might struggle to stay in the 4.6-second range in the 40-yard dash. We have to believe that issue will keep him out of the first two rounds, making his likely landing spot somewhere in the third or fourth round. Despite his size and lack of speed, Bell shows surprising balance and wiggle for such a big runner, showing an ability to slip through traffic. Bell ran for 3,346 yards (4.99 YPC) and 33 touchdowns in 40 games at Michigan State.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2012
2011
Bell isn't as fast and wasn't as big a recruit as Edwin Baker or Larry Caper, yet he was wildly more productive than either last year, running for 948 yards and 13 touchdowns (5.2 YPC) while Baker and Caper failed to average 4.0 yards per carry. With the arrival of 2012, Baker is in the NFL and Caper is a complete afterthought, leaving Bell with the vast majority of the Michigan State running game to himself. Even with quarterback Kirk Cousins gone and perhaps defenses stacking against the run as a result, Bell should make a push for 15 rushing touchdowns this year.
Although he was a relatively obscure recruit, Bell made a huge impact as a true freshman last, with his slippery running netting him 605 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground while averaging 5.7 yards per carry. There's no doubt that he's behind Edwin Baker on the depth chart, but Bell would be a must-start in every scenario if Baker were to miss any time.
