Breaks Big Ten record in final collegiate game
December 30, 2017
Barrett went 11 of 17 for 114 yards in Friday's win over USC in the Cotton Bowl and added 66 yards with two touchdowns on the ground.
ANALYSIS
The redshirt senior put a bow on his historic Ohio State career, breaking Drew Brees' Big Ten record for total offense (12,697 yards) en route to his 38th win as a starter. Barrett accounted for 47 touchdowns in his final season, which broke his previous personal best of 45 touchdowns from when he was a redshirt freshman in 2014. As a player who was overwhelmingly doubted when he took the reins of the offense after Braxton Miller's injury in 2014, Barrett had a truly remarkable college career that'll go down as one of the best of all time.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2017
2016
It says a lot about a quarterback when a 33-touchdown season is considered a failure, but that was Barrett's scenario last year. The Ohio State offense wasn't as dominant as its usual self – the receiver position especially was a letdown – and Barrett's numbers fell short of his 45-touchdown freshman season in 2014. But Urban Meyer's teams rarely flounder for long, and Barrett is likely to be especially sharp as a senior. The arrival of offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson should also help – Wilson made strong offenses with lesser talent at Indiana.
Barrett is one of the few familiar faces remaining from the Buckeyes’ 2014 title run as most of his weapons from that year and 2015 have since moved on to the NFL. However, a new cast of characters around Barrett may not be such a bad thing after all given how last season’s Buckeye offense looked and felt overcrowded and out of sync at times with tons of Alpha personalities all vying for the spotlight. Now that Barrett enters the season as the unquestioned leader among a group of newcomers, Urban Meyer’s offense figures to rely heavily on Barrett’s right arm and his legs. Based on production alone, Barrett took a step back in the passing game in 2015, but part of that can be explained by the complex situation Ohio State had at quarterback. With two years of playing experience under his belt to go along with undoubted athleticism and poise, Barrett looks primed for a run at the Heisman in 2016 regardless of the lesser-known weapons, like Mike Weber, Noah Brown, Corey Smith, and Parris Campbell, that he’ll be relying upon.
