Texas Southern head coach Clarence McKinney announced Wednesday via his personal Twitter account that Johnson would play for the FCS school in 2019.

Johnson will join his fourth program after committing to Florida State out of high school. After being dismissed from the school in 2015, Johnson landed at East Mississippi Community College before moving on to Florida Atlantic, where he only attempted 26 passes over two seasons while Chris Robison moved ahead of him on the depth chart. He'll step down a level to wrap up his career and should have a better chance at earning a full-time starting gig for the first time since high school.
