Embarks on baseball career
August 18, 2018
Harris left the Rutgers football program following the 2017 season and has since began a professional baseball career, James Kratch of NJ.com reports.
ANALYSIS
As a redshirt sophomore in 2017, Harris missed Rutgers' first game due to a team-imposed suspension but returned to play in 11 games. After making eight starts at wideout in 2016 and pacing the team with 39 receptions for 481 yards while adding three scores, Harris was limited to only one reception for four yards in 2017, as he instead shifted over to the other side of the ball and made five starts at safety. After the season, he suited up for the Scarlet Knights' baseball program in the spring and signed a contract with Major League Baseball's San Diego Padres, who drafted him in the seventh round of the 2018 first-year player draft in June.
