January 3, 2005
Smith will forego his senior season and enter the NFL draft, the Salt Lake Tribune reported Monday.
ANALYSIS
Anyone who saw Smith in Saturday's Fiesta Bowl knows there's little left for him to do in college, though Utes fans know it'll be nearly impossible to have the same type of undefeated run in 2005 without him. Smith capped his brilliant season by completing 29-of-37 passes for 328 yards and four touchdowns in a 35-7 rout of Pittsburgh on Saturday. According to the report, Smith will announce his decision soon. We think he'll be a late first-round or early second-round pick, depending on what other quarterbacks enter.
