South Africa vs Sri Lanka, 2nd T20I
March 22, 2019
Supersport Park, Centurion

Preview

After nearly messing up a regulation run chase in the first T20I and then redeeming themselves with a grand super over, South Africa let go soft a slew of stars and welcome a few new faces to the setup. They will be led by Jean-Paul Duminy with David Miller continuing to take the gloves. Sinethemba Qeshile is likely to come in only for the final fixture into the XI.

Sri Lanka, meanwhile, will bank on their spinners yet again to trouble the Proteas like last match. Lakshan Sandakan might also be squeezed into the starting XI but it could also be Suranga Lakmal who needs game time before the World Cup. With South Africa sporting a depleted side, Lanka will look to grab a win at Centurion on a high scoring wicket.

Conditions: High-scoring wicket with plenty of runs on offer.

Player recommendation

Wicket-keeper: David Miller (9.5 credits)

Miller is backed as the back-up wicket-keeper for the World Cup and is being honed in this series behind the stumps. He has been flawless so far, even standing up to Imran Tahir to effect a stumping. With several top order batsmen departing, Miller could also get a run with the bat which makes him a great fantasy pick.

Batsman: Rassie van der Dussen (9 credits)

Batsman: Rassie van der Dussen (9 credits)

The South African middle-order batsman has been incredibly consistent since making his Proteas debut, pitching in with a decent knock every time. What is under scrutiny, though, is his strike rate and Van der Dussen, who had a great MSL, will need to show he can strike big and long.

All-rounder: Andile Phehlukwayo (9 credits)

Phehlukwayo is expected to take up death bowling duties for this fixture and given the variations up his sleeve, it might not be a bad idea. The Centurion, though, is a belter and he might want to to keep those length balls at bay. Phehlukwayo has thrived under pressure and might be pushed up the order too to give him a longer space with the bat.

Bowler: Isuru Udana (8.5 credits)

The Sri Lankan seamers mixed up his pace quite cleverly in the final over of the last match to showcase his good a T20 bowler he is. The Super Over came on the back of his spectacular over and Udana will want to build on it. His variations and death bowling will be in focus at Centurion where batsmen go big in the final overs.

Captain: David Miller

Vice-captain: Lasith Malinga
