Bangladesh vs. Pakistan: ICC World Cup Match 43 Preview

Bangladesh and Pakistan will face off in the 43rd match of the 2019 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup in London on Friday. The game is nearly a dead-rubber one now as both teams are pretty much out of the competition after England's triumph over New Zealand.

For Bangladesh, the game is all about playing for pride as they have no chance of making it to the last-four after having just seven points from eight matches. In the batting department, the team will be relying on the likes of veteran opener Tamim Iqbal, all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim to score bulk of the runs, whereas on the bowling front, the onus will be on Mustafizur Rahman, Mashrafe Mortaza and Mohammad Saifuddin to produce timely breakthroughs.

On the other hand, Pakistan will enter the match knowing mathematically they are still alive in the tournament, but practically it's all but over. The Men in Green need to win their final round-robin game by at least 316 margin if they manage to score 400 while batting first, whereas there is no chance for them making to the next stage if they bat second. In the batting department, the Green Shirts will be relying on the likes of Imam Ul-Haq, Babar Azam and Haris Sohail to score bulk of the runs, whereas on the bowling front, the onus will be on the likes of pacers Mohammad Amir, Shadab Khan and Imad Wasim to produce timely breakthroughs.

Lord's will be used as the venue for the match. Traditionally, the ground is famous for its nature—extremely contrary to English conditions. Pakistan have already played a match at the ground in the competition where they comfortably defeated South Africa after posting 300 plus runs on the board. Traditionally, teams batting first have had an advantage at the ground in a 50-over contest, therefore, both captain will be looking to win the toss and opt to bat first on Friday.
