NFL Game Previews: Giants-49ers Matchup

This article is part of our NFL Game Previews series.

N.Y. Giants (+3) at San Francisco, 44.0 o/u – Monday, 8:15 p.m. EST

The Story: Man, when the NFL scheduled this one last offseason, it looked like a prime-time matchup, didn't it? Fast forward a few months, and it's two teams with a combined 3-14 record, and the winner does irreparable harm to their standing in the 2019 draft. The Giants have the longest active losing streak in the NFL right now at five games, so of course Eli Manning will keep the starting QB job coming out of their bye week, because why would you want to hurt your chances of drafting his replacement. He's basically turned into Sam Bradford at this point. His 68.3 percent completion rate is the highest of his career thanks to all the dinking and dunking, and his 7.5 YPA is his highest mark since 2011, but an 8:6 TD:INT through eight games would make even Dak Prescott cringe. They still have Saquon Barkley and Odell Beckham – heck, those two guys are mostly responsible for Eli's healthy YPA, given their ability to gain yards after the catch – and, to be fair, none of the five teams they've lost to during their streak have losing records, but the season has still spiralled out of control, much like one of Manning's passes. The Niners at least can blame Jimmy Garoppolo's season-ending injury for some of their difficulties, but they may have found a replacement in Nick Mullens. An undrafted free agent

The Niners at least can blame Jimmy Garoppolo's season-ending injury for some of their difficulties, but they may have found a replacement in Nick Mullens. An undrafted free agent last year, he spent his time on the practice squad sponging up every nuance of Kyle Shanahan's offense, and when he got his chance he looked positively Matt Ryan-esque. Of course, that's easy to do against the Raiders, and on paper the Giants' defense should present a tougher challenge even after their trade deadline purge, but another good performance will probably kick-start next year's QB controversy a little early.

The Skinny:
NYG injuries: none
SF injuries: TE George Kittle (questionable, chest); WR Pierre Garcon (questionable, knee); LB Reuben Foster (questionable, hamstring); S Jaquiski Tartt (questionable, shoulder)
NYG DFS chalk: none
SF DFS chalk: none
NYG DFS tournament plays: Manning (SF 26th in QB rating against), Bennie Fowler (SF 28th in DVOA vs. WR3)
SF DFS tournament plays: Marquise Goodwin (NYG 28th in DVOA vs. WR1), Kendrick Bourne (NYG 31st in DVOA vs. WR3)
Weather forecast: clear, temperature in the mid-60s, less than 10 mph wind, zero percent chance of rain

The Scoop: Barkley racks up 120 combined yards and a score. Manning throws for 300 yards and TDs to Beckham and Evan Engram, but he gets picked off twice. Matt Breida picks up 80 combined yards. Mullens looks good once again, throwing for 320 yards and touchdowns to Goodwin and Bourne. 49ers, 26-21

New Orleans at Cincinnati (+5.5), 54.0 o/u – Sunday, 1 p.m. EST

The Story: Remember way back in Week 1, when the Saints got ambushed by Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Bucs and everyone was all, "OMG, they aren't as good as we thought they were?" Well, New Orleans hasn't lost since, and last week's victory over the Rams puts them in the driver's seat for home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. The defense has also quietly gotten its act together – sure, Jared Goff hit them up for 35 points, but he does that to everybody. The Saints hadn't allowed more than 23 points in any of the four games prior to that. The Bengals were only half a game behind the Steelers in the AFC North heading into Thursday, but they don't feel like much of a threat. They're 1-3 against teams currently above .500, and the lone victory was against a Dolphins team with Ryan Tannehill still under center – and who was apparently trying to play through a shoulder injury that has kept him sidelined ever since. A.J. Green's toe injury deprives Andy Dalton of his top target, and while Tyler Boyd's having a good season and gets a great matchup, Dalton was barely clinging to a spot in the top 20 in QB rating as it was. If Cincinnati is going to stay in this one, it might have to come through Joe Mixon controlling the clock and keeping Drew Brees off the field – no easy task against a Saints defense that is tops in the league in YPC allowed.

The Skinny:
NO injuries: WR Dez Bryant (questionable, Achilles)
CIN injuries: WR Green (out, toe); RB Giovani Bernard (questionable, knee); LB Vontaze Burfict (out, hip)
NO DFS chalk: Alvin Kamara (CIN 30th in YPC allowed, 28th in passing game DVOA vs. RB)
CIN DFS chalk: Boyd (NO 32nd in DVOA vs. WR1)
NO DFS tournament plays: Mark Ingram (see above)
CIN DFS tournament plays: John Ross (NO 32nd in DVOA against deep throws, 32nd in DVOA vs. WR2)
Weather forecast: cloudy, temperature in the high 30s, less than 10 mph wind, zero percent chance of rain

The Scoop: Kamara piles up 100 combined yards and a receiving TD, while Ingram adds 50 yards and a touchdown. Brees throws for 260 yards and two more scores, hitting Michael Thomas and Tre'Quan Smith. Mixon grinds out 70 yards and a touchdown. Dalton throws for 280 yards and two TDs to Boyd. Saints, 31-27

Atlanta at Cleveland (+4), 50.5 o/u – Sunday, 1 p.m. EST

The Story: The Falcons' bye didn't slow their momentum, as they trucked Washington at FedEx Field last week and even found a touchdown for Julio Jones. The question is whether they took too long to get going, as despite their three-game winning streak the Saints haven't given them any opportunity to gain ground in the NFC South. At least they have their backfield sorted out, with Tevin Coleman handling lead duties and rookie Ito Smith filling Coleman's old No. 1B role. The Browns' first game under their "new" brain trust didn't get them a better result, but they are in the middle of a particularly brutal stretch of games. Offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens remembered Duke Johnson existed while still giving Nick Chubb a season-high 22 carries, and an emphasis on the ground game will probably persist over the second half as the team tries to take pressure off Baker Mayfield. Atlanta's rankings against RBs are nearly as bad as Kansas City's, so a repeat of last week's two-headed fantasy monster could be in the cards for Cleveland, but those rankings could also be a relic of the Falcons' early season defensive struggles – their last two games, they've held Saquon Barkley and Adrian Peterson to a combined 60 rushing yards on 23 carries (2.6 YPC).

The Skinny:
ATL injuries: K Matt Bryant (out, hamstring)
CLE injuries: TE David Njoku (questionable, knee); CB Denzel Ward (questionable, hip)
ATL DFS chalk: Coleman (CLE 32nd in rushing TDs allowed)
CLE DFS chalk: Jarvis Landry (31 percent of team Air Yards, ATL 30th in DVOA vs. WR1)
ATL DFS tournament plays: Smith (see above)
CLE DFS tournament plays: Chubb (ATL 29th in YPC allowed), Rashard Higgins (ATL 29th in DVOA vs. WR3)
Weather forecast: cloudy, temperature in the mid-30s, 10 mph wind, zero percent chance of rain

The Scoop: Coleman picks up 80 combined yards and a score, while Smith also gets into the end zone. Matt Ryan throws for a season-low 240 yards but still hits Julio for two more TDs. Chubb runs for 60 yards and a touchdown, while Johnson adds 50 combined yards. Mayfield throws for 220 yards and a TD to Higgins. Falcons, 28-17

Detroit (+6.5) at Chicago, 45.0 o/u – Sunday, 1 p.m. EST

The Story: Think Matthew Stafford missed Golden Tate last week? The beleaguered QB could have used a trusted outlet receiver last week while getting sacked 10 times by the Vikings. Theo Riddick ended up being the biggest winner in the Tate-less offense, catching seven of his eight targets, while Kerryon Johnson also caught three of five targets. Stafford could be in for another long day Sunday with Khalil Mack returning to action for the Bears, and the ankle injury Johnson picked up in Week 9 could deprive Detroit of yet another option in the passing game. Even if their offensive line blocks a bit better, it's hard to see Stafford getting enough time to find Kenny Golladay or Marvin Jones downfield on a consistent basis – and he'll need to, given how well Chicago's offense is playing. Over their last five games (since Mitchell Trubisky's six-TD explosion against Tampa Bay) the team's averaging 34.4 points a game, and even Jordan Howard has started to get in on the action, finding the end zone four times in the last three contests. With Allen Robinson also healthy again, a Lions secondary that has quietly regressed to abysmal and will be without Darius Slay may have no answers for Matt Nagy's scheme. The only thing working in their favor this week would seem to be history.

The Skinny:
DET injuries: RB Johnson (questionable, ankle); CB Slay (out, knee); DE Ezekiel Ansah (questionable, shoulder)
CHI injuries: none
DET DFS chalk: none
CHI DFS chalk: Howard (DET 31st in YPC allowed)
DET DFS tournament plays: none
CHI DFS tournament plays: Taylor Gabriel (DET 32nd in DVOA vs. WR3), Trey Burton (DET 30th in DVOA vs. TE), Anthony Miller (DET 29th in DVOA vs. WR2), Trubisky (DET 30th in QB rating against)
Head-to-head record, last five years: 9-1 DET, average score 26-20 DET, average margin of victory six points. Only two of the last 10 meetings have been decided by more than one score.
Weather forecast: cloudy, temperature in the mid-30s, 14-15 mph wind, zero percent chance of rain

The Scoop: Johnson plays but only manages 40 yards, while Riddick leads the Lions backfield with 70 combined yards. Stafford throws for 230 yards and TDs to Golladay and Michael Roberts. Howard rumbles for a season-high 100 yards and a touchdown, while Tarik Cohen strikes for 80 combined yards and two TDs, one rushing and one receiving. Trubisky throws for 270 yards and two more scores, hitting Miller and Gabriel, while Mack announces his return to the lineup by taking a fumble recovery to the house. Bears, 45-14

Arizona (+16.5) at Kansas City, 49.5 o/u – Sunday, 1 p.m. EST

The Story: The Cardinals might be undefeated if they only ever had to play the Niners, but they're 0-6 against the rest of the league, and their minus-89 point differential is the worst in the NFC, trailing only the Raiders (minus-111) and the Bills (a Lovecraftian minus-145.) Now they get to face the Chiefs' buzzsaw. Lucky them. The offense under new coordinator Byron Leftwich didn't seem any more effective in their Week 8 victory – they only scored 18 points – but at least it was more fantasy-friendly, as David Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald both hit for 100-plus scrimmage yards. Josh Rosen even threw multiple TD passes for the first time in his career. Eighteen points isn't going to cut it against Patrick Mahomes and crew, though. Even if Patrick Peterson shuts down Tyreek Hill, and Sammy Watkins' foot injury keeps him in street clothes, who's going to slow down Kareem Hunt and Travis Kelce? Arizona's secondary may be tied for the league lead with only nine TD passes allowed, but that's more a product of game flow, the quality of the QBs they've faced, and the fact that their run defense keeps getting steamrolled. Jared Goff fired up 354 yards against them earlier in the season, and Mahomes isn't likely to have any more trouble moving the ball.

The Skinny:
ARI injuries: S Budda Baker (questionable, foot)
KC injuries: WR Watkins (questionable, foot); LB Anthony Hitchens (questionable, ribs); LB Justin Houston (questionable, hamstring); S Eric Berry (doubtful, heel)
ARI DFS chalk: Johnson (KC 32nd in YPC allowed, 29th in passing game DVOA vs. RB)
KC DFS chalk: Hunt (ARI 31st in rushing yards per game allowed, tied for 30th in rushing TDs allowed)
ARI DFS tournament plays: none
KC DFS tournament plays: none
Weather forecast: cloudy, temperature in the low 40s, less than 10 mph wind, zero percent chance of rain

The Scoop: Johnson racks up 120 combined yards and a touchdown. Rosen throws for a career-high 260 yards and a TD to Ricky-Seals Jones, but he gets picked off three times. Hunt explodes for 170 combined yards and two scores. Mahomes throws for 310 yards and two TDs, finding Kelce and Demarcus Robinson. Chiefs, 37-17

New England at Tennessee (+6.5), 46.5 o/u – Sunday, 1 p.m. EST

The Story: Just to make something clear, Bill Belichick teams don't have "letdown" games. Sure, this may look like a great spot for one, as the Pats take a six-game winning streak into the building of an opponent they may not have much respect for after a big victory over Aaron Rodgers, but the rules generally don't apply to New England (and you can interpret that statement however you wish). Josh Gordon's completely unsurprising emergence as an elite WR once again – he's popped for 100 yards in two of his last three games, and saw double-digit targets from Tom Brady for the first time last week – gives the offense a dimension it hasn't had for a long time, and opens up even more space underneath for Julian Edelman and James White. Sony Michel might also be able to return from his knee injury for this one, giving the Titans' defense something else to worry about. Tennessee does have a knack for dragging the other team down to their level, though. They've only played two games this year decided by more than one score, a 21-0 loss to the Ravens when Marcus Mariota was still basically unable to throw a football, and last week's 28-14 win over the Cowboys when Mariota looked much, much better. The Titans do have some ex-Pats on the roster (Dion Lewis, Malcolm Butler, Logan Ryan) who might be able to help their teammates prepare for what's coming, but that's a thin reed to try and build an upset on.

The Skinny:
NE injuries: RB Michel (questionable, knee); WR Edelman (questionable, ankle); TE Rob Gronkowski (questionable, back); WR Cordarrelle Patterson (questionable, neck)
TEN injuries: none
NE DFS chalk: Gordon (TEN 31st in DVOA vs. WR1)
TEN DFS chalk: none
NE DFS tournament plays: none
TEN DFS tournament plays: Mariota (NE tied for 28th in TD passes allowed, 30th in rushing yards allowed to QB)
Weather forecast: cloudy, temperature in the high 40s, less than 10 mph wind, zero percent chance of rain

The Scoop: Michel plays but only manages 40 yards, while White puts together 70 combined yards. Brady throws for 250 yards and TDs to Gordon and Edelman. Lewis leads the Titans backfield with 80 combined yards. Mariota throws for 220 yards and a touchdown to Corey Davis while running for 40 yards and a score of his own, but it's not enough. Patriots, 26-20

Washington (+3) at Tampa Bay, 51.5 o/u – Sunday, 1 p.m. EST

The Story: Losing by 24 points at home coming out of your bye is not exactly the mark of a contender, but Washington is still perched on top of the NFC East after last week's debacle against the Falcons. They probably won't be there much longer, though. The offensive line, which had been so effective at opening holes for Adrian Peterson this season, has now been all but wiped out – left tackle Trent Williams needed thumb surgery and right tackle Morgan Moses has knee trouble, while starting guards Brandon Scherff and Shawn Lauvao just headed straight for IR after Sunday's loss due to their respective ailments. Even a Tampa Bay defense with the worst secondary in the league and a lackluster pass rush might be able to handle this group, given that they should easily dominate the battle in the trenches. The offense is another story. Ryan Fitzpatrick got his job back from Jameis Winston, but Bucs fans saw both faces of Dr. Fitz and Mr. Patrick last week in his return to the starting lineup. Their first possession was a three-and-out, and their second ended when a ball magically appeared in Eric Reid's hands. Once he'd dug a 14-0 hole, of course, Fitzpatrick turned thing around and ended up throwing four TDs, but they still lost handily to the Panthers. Which version of him shows up this week might not matter to anyone but fantasy GMs, though, (well, O.J. Howard will care) if Alex Smith can't move the ball for Washington.

The Skinny:
WAS injuries: RB Chris Thompson (out, ribs); WR Jamison Crowder (questionable, ankle); WR Paul Richardson (IR, shoulder)
TB injuries: RB Ronald Jones II (out, hamstring)
WAS DFS chalk: Jordan Reed (TB 29th in DVOA vs. TE)
TB DFS chalk: none
WAS DFS tournament plays: Peterson (TB tied for 30th in rushing TDs allowed), Smith (TB 32nd in QB rating against)
TB DFS tournament plays: Bucs DST (see above)
Weather forecast: cloudy, temperature in the high 70s, 10 mph wind, zero percent chance of rain

The Scoop: Peterson wills himself to 50 yards. Smith throws for under 200 yards and gets sacked five times, but he does hit Reed for a TD. Peyton Barber cobbles together 60 yards. Fitzpatrick throws for 270 yards and three touchdowns, one each to Mike Evans, Adams Humphries and Chris Godwin. Buccaneers, 27-10

Buffalo (+6.5) at N.Y. Jets, 36.5 o/u – Sunday, 1 p.m. EST

The Story: Time to spin the Wheel of Terrible Quarterbacks! Which sub-par signal-caller will suit up for the Bills this week? It'll probably be Nathan Peterman again, which would make the Jets defense the chalkiest of chalk plays, but it's not like Josh Allen would be much better if he's able to return from his elbow injury. Buffalo's defense has some talent, but being on the field all the time has worn them down, both physically and statistically. Again, this is a team that's 145 points in the hole on the season. That means they've been outscored by more than 16 points a game so far – and they've won two of them! It's getting so bad that even LeSean McCoy's snap count is being affected, as games slip from "we need to air it out and get the ball in out best player's hands" territory into the "let's just make sure he doesn't get hurt in garbage time" fantasy death zone. The three-win Jets aren't a whole lot better, mind you, but the Bills are legitimately an order of magnitude worse than anyone else in the league, so anybody can potentially look like world beaters against them. Sam Darnold's absence due to a foot injury might not even be a liability. Josh McCown is a capable veteran backup, a concept Buffalo's front office wouldn't understand, and he's got enough weapons around him to put some points on the board every time Peterman sets him up with great field position.

The Skinny:
BUF injuries: QB Allen (questionable, elbow); QB Derek Anderson (out, concussion); RB Chris Ivory (questionable, shoulder); TE Charles Clay (out, hamstring); LB Tremaine Edmunds (questionable, concussion)
NYJ injuries: QB Darnold (doubtful, foot); WR Robby Anderson (doubtful, ankle)
BUF DFS chalk: none
NYJ DFS chalk: Jets DST (BUF 31st in sacks allowed, 32nd in giveaways)
BUF DFS tournament plays: none
NYJ DFS tournament plays: none
Head-to-head record, last five years: 6-4 BUF, average score 27-21 BUF, average margin of victory 14 points. Four of the last nine meetings have been decided by 20 or more points, and only three by one score.
Weather forecast: clear, temperature in the mid-40s, less than 10 mph wind, zero percent chance of rain

The Scoop: McCoy picks up 60 combined yards. Peterman throws for under 200 yards and gets picked off twice in the first half before giving way to Matt Barkley, who doesn't fare much better. Isaiah Crowell bangs out 80 yards and a score. McCown throws for 220 yards and a touchdown to Elijah McGuire. Jets, 23-6

Jacksonville (+3) at Indianapolis, 47.0 o/u – Sunday, 1 p.m. EST

The Story: Inexplicably, the Jaguars have the longest losing streak in the AFC right now, as their four-game slide has them tied with the Bills, Browns and Raiders, which is not company you want to be keeping in any category – especially one year removed from an appearance in the conference title game. Well, maybe inexplicably is the wrong word. The defense has taken a step backwards after its dominant 2017, which isn't a big surprise, but Blake Bortles' collapse in recent weeks has the offense in a tailspin. Only the Bills and Cards have scored fewer points so far this season, and his 3:5 TD:INT over the last four games has Bortles' job hanging by a thread, although Cody Kessler hardly seems like an upgrade. Getting Leonard Fournette back could help normalize the whole unit, but if Bortles can't threaten the defense downfield, whichever RB is carrying the rock for Jacksonville is going to see a lot of eight-man fronts. Indy has looked great over the last two games, but wins against Buffalo and Oakland just proves you're not completely hopeless, and their four-game losing streak prior to that against more credible competition can't be ignored. The Colts' bye week didn't get Marlon Mack off the early-week injured list, but his 258 rushing yards in those two wins suggests his foot injury isn't really a concern. The balance he's provided to the offense has also helped strap a rocket to Andrew Luck's production. Luck's thrown at least three TDs in five straight games, but that streak will be put to the test this week. The Jags' defense may not be quite as fearsome as they were a year ago, but they've still only allowed nine TD passes all year, tied for the lowest total in the league.

The Skinny:
JAC injuries: LB Telvin Smith (questionable, shoulder); CB A.J. Bouye (out, calf)
IND injuries: WR Ryan Grant (question, ankle)
JAC DFS chalk: none
IND DFS chalk: none
JAC DFS tournament plays: D.J. Chark (IND 26th in DVOA vs. WR3)
IND DFS tournament plays: none
Head-to-head record, last five years: 6-4 IND, average score 23-20 IND, average margin of victory 19 points. JAC has won four of the last five meetings, and seven of the last 10 meetings have been decided by 20 points or more.
Weather forecast: dome

The Scoop: Fournette makes up for last time, running for 100 yards and a TD. Bortles throws for 270 yards and touchdowns to Chark and Donte Moncrief. Mack picks up 70 combined yards. Luck throws for 280 yards and TDs to T.Y. Hilton and Jack Doyle, but a late pick by Jalen Ramsey squashes the Colts' comeback. Jaguars, 24-20

L.A. Chargers at Oakland (+10), 50.0 o/u – Sunday, 4:05 p.m. EST

The Story: Sure, the Chargers' five-game winning streak has come against teams with a combined 13-28-1 record, but in previous years you know they would have found a way to lose at least one of those gimmes (though they tried really hard against the Titans), and last week's win in Seattle was fairly impressive. Proving to themselves they could still come out on top without Melvin Gordon or Joey Bosa in the lineup might have been a tipping point for the rest of the roster, and this may end up being the team nobody wants to face in the playoffs. They squashed the Raiders 26-10 in Week 5, and while this game is back in Oakland, there doesn't seem to be much home-field advantage emanating from the Black Hole these days. Last week's embarrassing display across the bay against the Niners was the low point of their season to date, but don't assume they've hit rock bottom and will rebound. Nick Mullens might be the next Tony Romo, but he's still no Philip Rivers, and even if Derek Carr erases the memory of last week's benching, there's a shocking lack of talent around him on both sides of the ball.

The Skinny:
LAC injuries: DE Bosa (out, foot)
OAK injuries: none
LAC DFS chalk: Gordon (OAK 28th in YPC allowed, 32nd in passing game DVOA vs. RB), Rivers (OAK 31st in QB rating against)
OAK DFS chalk: none
LAC DFS tournament plays: Austin Ekeler (see above), Mike Williams (OAK 30th in DVOA vs. WR3), Antonio Gates / Virgil Green (OAK 32nd in DVOA vs. TE)
OAK DFS tournament plays: none
Head-to-head record, last five-plus years: 6-5 LAC, average score 23-20 LAC, average margin eight points. LAC has won three straight meetings, the last two by a combined 36 points.
Weather forecast: clear, temperature in the mid-60s, 9-11 mph wind, zero percent chance of rain

The Scoop: Gordon gallops for 160 combined yards and two scores. Rivers throws for 260 yards and touchdowns to Mike Williams and Gates. Doug Martin picks up 60 combined yards. Carr throws for 280 yards and two TDs, finding Jordy Nelson and Jalen Richard. Chargers, 31-20

Seattle (+10) at L.A. Rams, 50.5 o/u – Sunday, 4:25 p.m. EST

The Story: It's been two steps forward and one step back for the Seahawks this season, who got handily dispatched at home last week by that other L.A. team. A loss here makes them 0-3 against the various Angelinos, as well as all but locking up the NFC West for the Rams (if it isn't already). The last meeting was a barn burner, as Chris Carson and Mike Davis combined for 184 rushing yards and Seattle lost 33-31. The change of venue does them no favors, but if they have similar success on the ground and keep Jared Goff on the sidelines, another close one isn't out of the question. On the other hand, Sean McVay will be stinging after taking his first loss of the year and looking to re-assert his team's dominance, and it's doubtful that Ndamukong Suh and Aaron Donald will be quite so accommodating to the Seahawks' running game. Goff will also want some revenge, as Seattle's the only team to pick him off twice so far this season. The wild card here might be the California wildfires. The Rams had to cancel their practice Friday in Thousand Oaks – yes, that Thousand Oaks – due to evacuations in Ventura County, and while Sunday's game at the Coliseum isn't expected to be directly affected, the ability of the Rams' players to stay focused is definitely being put to the test.

The Skinny:
SEA injuries: RB Carson (questionable, hip); LB K.J. Wright (questionable, knee); S Bradley McDougald (questionable, knee)
LAR injuries: none
SEA DFS chalk: none
LAR DFS chalk: Todd Gurley (SEA 27th in YPC allowed)
SEA DFS tournament plays: none
LAR DFS tournament plays: none
Head-to-head record, last five-plus years: 6-5 LAR, average score 20-19 SEA, average margin of victory 11 points.
Weather forecast: clear, temperature in the low 70s, less than 10 mph wind, zero percent chance of rain

The Scoop: Davis leads the Seahawks backfield with 70 yards and a TD. Russell Wilson for a season-high 310 yards and two touchdowns, hitting Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett. Gurley keeps rolling with 110 combined yards and a score. Goff throws for 330 yards and three touchdowns, two to Brandin Cooks and one to Cooper Kupp. Rams, 31-24

Miami (+10) at Green Bay, 47.5 o/u – Sunday, 4:25 p.m. EST

The Story: Brock Osweiler evened his record at 2-2 last week, but an ugly 13-6 win over the Jets had little to do with him. His production has declined every week since he took over from an injured Ryan Tannehill, and there isn't likely to be any kind on QB controversy when Tannehill's shoulder is 100 percent again. It was the defense that stepped up in Week 9, but even then it's fair to wonder whether the Jets' struggles had more to do with their own quarterback issues than with Miami's scheme – the Dolphins has allowed 33.4 points per game in their five prior contests. In fact, the Jets are the only team they've held below 20 points all year, and they won't be playing them again in 2018. The Packers have lost three of their last four and are below .500 at the halfway mark of their season, but Aaron Rodgers has been here before and still dragged the team kicking and screaming into the postseason. The emergence of Marquez Valdes-Scantling as a threat opposite Davante Adams certainly helps, and while there's been plenty of public criticism of Mike McCarthy's hidebound play calling lately, having Rodgers under center is a safety net no other coach enjoys.

The Skinny:
MIA injuries: QB Tannehill (out, shoulder); LB Kiko Alonso (questionable, ankle)
GB injuries: WR Randall Cobb (questionable, hamstring); LB Blake Martinez (questionable, ankle)
MIA DFS chalk: none
GB DFS chalk: none
MIA DFS tournament plays: none
GB DFS tournament plays: none
Weather forecast: cloudy, temperature in the low 30s, less than 10 mph wind, 0-5 percent chance of snow

The Scoop: Kenyan Drake and Frank Gore each produce 50 yards. Osweiler throws for less than 200 yards and gets picked off twice. Aaron Jones scampers for 80 yards and two scores, one rushing and one receiving. Rodgers throws for 320 yards and two more TDs, finding Adams and Jimmy Graham. Packers, 34-3

Dallas (+6.5) at Philadelphia, 43.0 o/u – Sunday, 8:20 p.m. EST

The Story: The Cowboys' players, at least, seem to realize their season is hanging by a thread after last week's second-half collapse against the Titans. They're only two games back of Washington, but it's hard to imagine this offense – and more specifically, this coaching staff – coming back from a 3-6 record to make the playoffs. Amari Cooper did score in his Dallas debut and saw a healthy eight targets, but to look at his numbers on the season, you'd think Dak Prescott was a contemporary of Joe Montana. He's on pace for only 3,320 passing yards with a 20:10 TD:INT, numbers that went out of style around when Bobby Brown was being booted out of New Edition. It may be Jerry Jones' prerogative to keep Jason Garrett and Scott Linehan around, but every little step they make is under the microscope right now and it's hard to imagine they'll still have jobs with the Cowboys in 2019. The Eagles' outlook looks a lot rosier. They too are chasing Washington, but aside from a running game that has yet to be sorted out, everything seems to be lined up for a big second half. Carson Wentz and Golden Tate got some time to get on the same page over the bye week, and the defense continues to be stout – Philly hasn't allowed more than 27 points in any game so far, something no other team in the NFC can claim. If undrafted free agent Josh Adams emerges as the early-down and short-yardage back, putting Wendell Smallwood and Corey Clement back in the passing-down roles they're a better fit for, the offense could start soaring as well.

The Skinny:
DAL injuries: LB Sean Lee (out, hamstring)
PHI injuries: RB Darren Sproles (out, hamstring)
DAL DFS chalk: none
PHI DFS chalk: Zach Ertz (DAL 25th in DVOA vs. TE)
DAL DFS tournament plays: Michael Gallup (PHI 28th in DVOA vs. WR2)
PHI DFS tournament plays: Wentz (DAL 27th in QB rating against)
Head-to-head record, last five years: 5-5, average score 22-19 PHI, average margin of victory 12 points. Only three of the last eight meetings have been decided by less than 10 points.
Weather forecast: clear, temperature in the high 30s, less than 10 mph wind, zero percent chance of rain

The Scoop: Ezekiel Elliott gains 120 combined yards and a TD. Prescott throws for 210 yards and a score to Gallup. Smallwood leads the Eagles backfield with 80 combined yards and a receiving touchdown. Wentz throws for 300 yards and two more TDs, hitting Ertz and Nelson Agholor, and he also runs in a score of his own. Eagles, 31-20

Carolina (+4) at Pittsburgh, 51.5 o/u – Thursday, 8:20 p.m. EST

The Story: This is one of those games where the chess match between coaches could be paramount. The Panthers' best weapon is Christian McCaffrey, but the Steelers' defense is tops in the league in DVOA at stifling pass-catching backs. On the flip side, Carolina is second in DVOA against No. 1 wide receivers, so this could be a rare quiet game from Antonio Brown, who's only been kept out of the end zone in one game this season. (If you're wondering just how useful DVOA is, the team Brown failed to score against was the Chiefs ... who rank third in DVOA versus No. 1 WRs). Of course, Ben Roethlisberger has plenty of other dangerous options at his disposal – James Conner, JuJu Smith-Schuster – while Cam Newton mostly just has himself, though young players like Curtis Samuel and D.J. Moore have shown flashes. That's often enough, but on the road and on a short week against a team that's won four consecutive to seize the lead in the AFC North, it might be asking a bit too much of Cam. Plus, if they really did have a chess match, would anybody take Ron Rivera over Mike Tomlin?

The Skinny:
CAR injuries: WR Torrey Smith (out, knee)
PIT injuries: RB Le'Veon Bell (out, contract)
CAR DFS chalk: Greg Olsen (PIT 26th in DVOA vs. TE)
PIT DFS chalk: none
CAR DFS tournament plays: none
PIT DFS tournament plays: Vance McDonald (CAR 27th in DVOA vs. TE)
Weather forecast: cloudy, temperature in the high 30s, less than 10 mph wind, zero percent chance of rain

The Scoop: McCaffrey is held to a season-low 50 combined yards. Newton throws for 260 yards and a TD to Olsen while running for 40 and a score. Conner bangs out 90 yards and a touchdown. Roethlisberger throws for 280 yards and three TDs, finding JuJu, McDonald and Jaylen Samuels. Steelers, 31-17
