DFS Football: Sunday Preseason Week 3 Picks

Steelers-Titans is the only game Sunday, so it'll be a showdown of six players, including one player designated as a captain.

As we've seen all weekend, preseason Week 3 is no longer the automatic "dress rehearsal" for the regular season. Some teams have played their starters, while others simply give them a cameo or bench them altogether, and rarely is there a heads up as to what coaches will do. If news breaks before kickoff regarding playing time, check the RotoWire news page about an hour before kickoff to make those adjustments at the last minute.

QUARTERBACK

Marcus Mariota - A rough preseason may actually have him playing for job security, so he should play the first half. After completing six of nine passes for 63 yards and a TD last week, he has a good chance to build on those numbers as he'll likely lean on Corey Davis and Delanie Walker.

Ryan Tannehill - Being contrarian on a showdown slate is always difficult, but fading Ben Roethlisberger and starting both Titans' QBs could be the sneaky play. Roethlisberger is expected to play, but it seems likely he'd only see a series or two, so he's a bigger risk than most QBs this week. Tannehill has had a solid preseason and has put himself in competition with Mariota for the Titans' starting QB job. He'll likely play with the backups, but that's actually to his advantage, and it's possible he  plays the entire second half. A sneaky move would be to make him the captain in this DFS contest.

RUNNING BACK

James Conner - In last week's game, Conner was given six carries and a target turning those chances into 34 yards. Hopefully, the Steelers leave him on the field for at least a quarter, so he can get closer to 10 touches to increase his upside. With Derrick Henry unlikely to play for the Titans, he's the most likely running back to be productive.

Donte Moncrief - With Roethlisberger expected to play at least a couple series, it would stand to reason that he'd like to test out his chemistry with his likely No. 2 WR. Not only does Moncrief have the ability to get open deep, but Roethlisberger loves to go bombs away when he can. One big play is all Moncrief needs to come through.

Corey Davis - Although Davis caught just one of his three targets last week, he did haul in a 20-yard reception. It seems obvious that the Titans have plenty of work to do to be ready for the season, so it would stand to reason that Davis plays significant snaps. He has a great chance to lead the team in targets, making him a solid play.

TIGHT END

Delanie Walker - After missing most of 2018 with a broken ankle, Walker picked up where he left off by catching both of his targets for 26 yards and a TD last week. He'll most likely see extended playing time, and with Mariota trying to prove himself as the best QB on his own team, his best bet is to get the ball to his most reliable target.
