An undrafted rookie in 2014, Jones spent last season as a member of the Chiefs' practice squad. Despite an impressive showing at OTAs and a good start to training camp, the 24-year-old failed to put things together in the preseason and didn't earn a 53-man roster spot.
Buried on the team’s “X receiver” depth chart, it’s unlikely Jones will crack the Chiefs’ 53-man roster out of training camp.
Though he slipped under the radar out of tiny Valdosta State, Jones signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent following the draft last season. During training camp he turned some heads and spent most of the year on the team's practice squad, before being promoted to the active roster in Week 15. While Jones failed to appear in a game, Jones has repeatedly drawn the praise of the Saints' coaching staff this offseason. He's still a ways away from making a fantasy impact, but the wide-receiver depth chart is wide open in New Orleans after the offseason trades of Jimmy Graham and Kenny Stills, and Jones' size (6-foot-3, 200 pounds) makes him, at the very least, a formidable red-zone threat if he can earn playing time.

Jones impressed during the team's OTAs, Terez A. Paylor of The Kansas City Star reports. "Eighty-one has done a nice job," coach Andy Reid said of Jones. "I know him by 'Stretch'...he's done a nice job. He had a chance to work in there on the rotation and do some things. Big kid who can run, has pretty good hands. But again, he hasn't played much. Gotta see how he does in camp."
