Cravens was cut by the Broncos on Friday, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
ANALYSIS
Cravens was competing for a reserve or rotational role in Denver's secondary after finishing the 2018 season as a healthy scratch. The 2016 second-round pick will look to earn another chance elsewhere in the league.

Visits Pats
SFree Agent
September 3, 2019
Cravens, who was released by Denver, visited New England on Tuesday, Darren Hartwell of NBC Boston reports.
ANALYSIS
It's been a rocky career so far for Cravens, who initially retired after just one year in the league, but changed his mind after sitting out the 2017 season. He was traded to Denver upon his return, but only appeared in five games in 2018 due to injury. The Patriots have excellent safety depth, so little will be expected from Cravens out of the gates if a deal does go through.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2016
The Broncos reportedly had a first-round grade on Cravens, who was ultimately taken by Washington in the second round of the 2016 draft. He finished his rookie campaign with 33 tackles, five passes defensed, a sack and an interception. A bizarre falling out with the team and questioned desire to play held him out in 2017 before Denver traded for him this offseason. At his most effective, Cravens offers the Broncos the kind of safety/subpackage linebacker they lacked after cutting T.J. Ward before last season. Ward thrived in the role in his three seasons in Denver, tallying 224 tackles, five forced fumbles, five sacks and three interceptions in three seasons. Depending on how the Broncos deploy their safeties, Cravens might be able to fill the stat sheet similarly.
Cravens is a wild card after primarily playing linebacker during his rookie season, but he heads into a starting safety role that should put the former second-round pick in position to accumulate stats in 2017. He posted 34 tackles (24 solo) while playing just 297 defensive snaps last year, and in 2017 he should see something closer to 1,000 snaps, albeit at a position that leads to fewer tackles. Still, Cravens has unique potential due to his playmaker skill set -- he's shown a knack for making plays both behind the line of scrimmage and in coverage.
Cravens, the Redskins’ second-round draft pick in 2016, possesses natural football ability and it showed at USC, where he recorded 86 tackles, 5.5 sacks and two interceptions in 2015. The problem for Washington will be figuring out where he can play, as he worked as both a safety and linebacker in his time at USC. It will likely take a while for the Redskins to determine Cravens’ role in defensive coordinator Joe Barry’s 3-4 scheme, which might hurt his fantasy value this coming season. Right now, Cravens is listed as a backup weakside linebacker to both Ryan Kerrigan and Preston Smith.
