21-Year-Old Running BackRB

2018 Fantasy Outlook
The Lions traded up to the 43rd overall pick in this year's draft to select Johnson in the second round, and one look at the tape from his junior year at Auburn tells you why. The 21-year-old is an explosive runner, hitting holes and getting to the second level before linebackers can blink, with great balance and an aggressive edge allowing him to pick up tough yards after contact. The Le'Veon Bell comparison is undoubtedly ambitious, as he does not quite have Bell's otherworldly vision and patience when it comes to finding holes, but Johnson does have three-down potential. There are concerns about his durability given his running style and skinny frame, but he will not be asked to take on a massive workload right away with LeGarrette Blount arriving from Philadelphia and Theo Riddick still around to serve as the primary third-down and receiving back. If Johnson adapts to the NFL quickly, though, he has the talent to steal touches from both of his veteran teammates. Read Past Outlooks

Musters pair of scores in loss
RBDetroit Lions
November 11, 2018
Johnson (ankle) rushed 14 times for 51 yards and a touchdown and brought in all six of his targets for 38 yards and another score in the Lions' 34-22 loss to the Bears on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
Johnson still saw a decent workload on the ground considering the Lions were behind by a sizable margin in the second half, and he drew even with both Kenny Golladay and backfield mate Theo Riddick for the team lead in receptions. It's particularly encouraging to see Johnson remain involved in the game plan as a pass-catching option with the Lions down by multiple scores, a role that previously would been the near-exclusive domain of Riddick. Johnson and the Lions will look for a more favorable game script Week 11 against the Panthers, but it's already clear that the rookie is now the unquestioned lead back in Motown.
