2020 Fantasy Outlook
Cannon spent most of the offseason buried on the Jets' running back depth chart behind Le'Veon Bell, Frank Gore and La'Mical Perine. The Jets decided to waive Cannon in the opening days of camp, and the Panthers ended up claiming him. The 2018 sixth-rounder didn't have a carry or catch last season, appearing in only four games. With his new team, Cannon likely is competing with Mike Davis and Jordan Scarlett for one or two places on the regular-season roster. Read Past Outlooks

Earns roster spot
RBCarolina Panthers
September 6, 2020
Cannon secured a spot on the team's 53-man roster Saturday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Cannon secured the third and final spot on the running back depth chart in the wake of the team cutting Reggie Bonnafon. Now that Cannon's on the roster, Pearson points out he likely will be on every special team play for the 2020 season. Don't expect Cannnon to produce any meaningful fantasy numbers for the upcoming campaign.

This Week's Opposing Pass Defense
How does the Chargers pass defense compare to other NFL teams this season?
The bars represents the team's percentile rank (based on QB Rating Against). The longer the bar, the better their pass defense is. The team and position group ratings only include players that are currently on the roster and not on injured reserve. The list of players in the table only includes defenders with at least 3 attempts against them.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2018
With the offseason acquisitions of Le'Veon Bell and Ty Montgomery to join Elijah McGuire, there's not much room left for Cannon on the Jets' running back depth chart. All hope isn't lost for the 2018 sixth-rounder, however, as New York drafted him with the return game in mind and there's a special teams hole to be filled with Pro Bowler Andre Roberts now plying his trade in Buffalo. Cannon battled fumbling issues when used as a return man during the 2018 preseason, so he'll have to show that those are behind him in order to make the roster.
Cannon may not have the size to handle a starter's workload at the NFL level, but the rookie sixth-rounder out of Virginia State almost certainly won't be asked to. If the 5-foot-11, 185-pound running back sees the field at all, it will likely be in a change-of-pace passing down role or as a returner on special teams.
