Michael Bennett
Michael Bennett
33-Year-Old Defensive EndDE
Philadelphia Eagles
2018 Fantasy Outlook
Bennett joins one of the league's deepest defensive line rotations along with Fletcher Cox, Chris Long, Derek Barnett, Brandon Graham and Timmy Jernigan, in addition to 2018 fourth-round draft pick Josh Sweat. The erstwhile Seahawk and Buc has never failed to reach seven sacks in any of his six 16-game seasons. He notched another 8.5 in 2017 and is a good bet to continue that streak in the upcoming campaign. The main threat to that run unfortunately comes from off the field, as the 32-year-old was indicted over the offseason regarding an incident that allegedly occurred after the Super Bowl in February 2017. Assuming he's in uniform, however, Bennett will get plenty of snaps as he continues to rotate inside on passing downs. He will still be a difference-maker in Philadelphia. Read Past Outlooks

Successful debut in Philly

Bennett tallied 34 tackles, nine sacks, one pass breakup and two forced fumbles over 16 games in 2018.
Bennett was a force in his first year with Philadelphia after being acquired from Seattle last March. Trailing only first-team All-Pro teammate Fletcher Cox for the team lead in sacks (10.5), Bennett was a key piece in a top-notch defensive end rotation and didn't seem to slow down much in his age-33 season. He remains under contract for two more seasons, and with Cox also around for the long term, Bennett should continue to produce while likely drawing a fair share of one-on-one matchups next to his talented linemate.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
The Seahawks' defensive line rotates quite a lot, and Bennett is unlikely to play more than 800 snaps in a season -- he totaled 1,571 the two seasons prior to last year's injury-shortened year -- but as one of the league's best linemen he produces enough on a per-snap basis to remain on the IDP radar. He fell short of such distinction last year, but that was a result of missing five games with neck and knee injuries at separate points. In 2014 and 2015, Bennett produced 90 tackles and 17 sacks when he got the snaps.
Bennett was a force on the Seahawks' defensive line throughout the 2015 season while recording 52 tackles, 10 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 16 games. The 30-year-old has another chance at double-digit sacks in 2016 as he'll start across from fellow defensive end Cliff Avril with Ahtyba Rubin and Jordan Hill on the inside. Bennett doesn't have much of a recent injury history, which adds even more value and allows for plenty of snaps.
Bennett is better, and more valuable to the Seahawks, than he gets credit for. Because of a thin D-Line, he played nearly 200 more snaps last season than in 2013, which likely sapped his effectiveness at times as he played inside and out. A deeper line this year should keep him fresher. Expect him to challenge for double-digit sacks again.
Bennett recorded 31 tackles, 8.5 sacks and a fumble recovery for a touchdown during his first season in Seattle. Those numbers were actually down from his output while he with the Buccaneers, but that's likely due to how good the Seahawks' defense is as a whole, rather than a decline in Bennett's skill. He'll have a great chance to be starting on the end of the 4-3 and will have an opportunity to put up similar numbers to that of his 2013 season.
The Seahawks signed Bennett in March in hopes of improving a pass rush that was insufficient last season. Bennett will play behind Red Bryant at left defensive end and likely won't see enough snaps to be a weekly IDP option. He has a torn rotator cuff, but the Seahawks are confident he'll be able to play through it.
Though he is currently listed atop the depth chart at Right DE, he will probably wind up as a backup eventually. Bennett can play DL or DE so he is a versatile player for the team as a backup.
