Recent RotoWire Articles Featuring Tommy Gainey
Charles Howell III lands among our value picks in Yahoo contests this week as he looks to defend his title at the RSM Classic.
Billy Horschel has ripped off three Top-25s in a row and nearly won here a few years ago, so it should come as little surprise that he lands a spot among Ryan Andrade's golfers to target on FanDuel this week.
Kevin Kisner has a long track record of success in this event, and he lands a spot among Len Hochberg's picks to click in this week's contests on DraftKings.
Webb Simpson brings course history and recent form to the table this week and is also the highest-ranked player in the field, so he is a natural selection for contests on Yahoo.
Cameron Champ just might be the most intriguing player in this week's field, and he doubles as a pick to click in DraftKings contests for the final event of the fall season.
Past Fantasy Outlooks
It's still hard to believe Gainey started his PGA TOUR journey on a game show, but make no mistake, Gainey has earned the right to stay on the tour. It gives you an idea of how little separates the majority of players on the PGA TOUR from the lower-level tours. Gainey appears to be locked in now, but can he get much better? To do so, he'll need to play better during the heart of the PGA TOUR season, something he did in 2011, but not last season. Gainey should be a pretty safe pick as a salary cap selection, but his upside looks limited. In draft leagues, he's a sixth- or seventh-round pick.
Gainey is living proof that there really isn't much separating most of the golfers on the PGA Tour. Just a few years ago, Gainey was on the Golf Channel's "Big Break," hoping to earn his way into an event or two on the PGA Tour. Fast forward to the present and not only does he have full PGA Tour privileges, but he's in the Top 40 on the money list. Gainey is certainly not the most consistent player on the PGA TOUR, but when he's on, he's good. There were four instances last season in which he was on and all resulted in third-place finishes. Gainey will continue to frustrate as he'll disappear for weeks at a time, but if he continues to finish well when he's on, then he's worth a look.
