DraftKings NHL: Sunday Playoff Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

Goaltender

Matt Murray, PIT at WAS ($7,600): Taking a flier on the cheapest of the four starting goaltenders from the slate is a potential starting point for building lineups Sunday. Murray has won four games while allowing two goals or fewer, including two shutouts, but he's also surrendered 12 tallies over the other three contests. Murray is a risk-reward option who could also have a low ownership percentage that adds contrarian value.

Centers

Sidney Crosby, PIT at WAS ($7,800): Considering his current form, it's risky to fade Crosby in such a shallow player pool, and especially since his salary isn't prohibitive. He's marked the scoresheet in six of seven playoff games for seven goals, eight assists and five multi-point showings, and he has long-standing chemistry with linemates Jake Guentzel and Patric Hornqvist.

Kyle Turris, NAS vs. WPG ($4,800): The No. 2 center had his best game of the postseason in Game 1, as he drove possession with a 78.57 Corsi For Percentage and was on the ice for six high-danger scoring chances at five-on-five. Turris recorded a respectable 2.41 points per 60 minutes through 65 games with the Preds during the regular season, so with just two assists and a 1.02 mark during the playoffs, he's a ripe candidate to for positive offensive regression.

Wingers

Blake Wheeler, WPG at NSH ($6,400): Despite sporting a four-game point streak, Wheeler's salary has dropped to its lowest mark of the playoffs. There's good reason to expect a Game 2 pushback from the Predators, but with a go-to offensive role (20:15 of ice time per game with 3:09 on the power play during the regular season), the Winnipeg captain remains a strong lean, and especially with the extra value his diminished price offers.

Jake Guentzel, PIT at WAS ($6,100): While negative regression is ahead of Guentzel's 35.0 playoff shooting percentage, he's still one of the top options from this shallow player pool. His price is surprisingly low considering he's recorded seven goals and nine assists through just seven postseason games, and he also helps mitigate linemate Sidney Crosby's hefty salary in a Penguins stack.

Kyle Connor, WPG at NSH ($5,300): The rookie continues to show well on the top line and has collected an assist in each of the past three games. Connor connected with linemates Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler for a rock-solid 11.95 high-danger scoring chances per hour at even strength during the regular season, and the trio has been even more dangerous with a 12.47 mark in the playoffs.

Defensemen

Ryan Ellis, NSH vs. WPG ($4,800): Coming off a career-best offensive showing in the regular season (0.73 points per game), Ellis has remained a high-floor, high-ceiling asset with four assists, 17 shots and 10 blocked shots through seven playoff games. He's skating with the No. 2 power-play unit, which also makes the 27-year-old defenseman a sneaky stack candidate alongside Kyle Turris.

Josh Morrissey, WPG at NSH ($3,500): Pairing with Jacob Trouba has proved to be a good fit for Morrissey, as he's posted a 61.21 Corsi For percentage and been on the ice for 12.31 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes in the playoffs. While Morrissey's best asset is cap relief, and his offensive upside is limited, the 2013 first-round selection should be scarcely owned. He's logged 20:13 of ice time per game during the postseason, so he's positioned to approach value.
