FanDuel NHL: Thursday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Teams are approaching the 60-game mark of the season. Where does the time go? Well, some of your time Thursday could go to watching hockey, as there are 11 games on the slate. Here are my recommendations for your daily fantasy lineup.

GOALIE

Jacob Markstrom, VAN vs. ARI ($8,400): Markstrom has a 2.77 GAA and .911 save percentage, both of which are respectable numbers in the inflated offensive environment we find ourselves in this season. However, the Swedish goalie has been slightly better at home, as he has a 2.68 GAA and .914 save percentage in those outings. Either way, the Coyotes have only scored 2.57 goals per game, bottom four in the NHL.

CENTER

Ryan Johansen, NAS vs. LOS ($6,300): Johansen is dishing out assists as per usual, as he has 42 helpers in 60 games to go with 11 goals. He's also averaged 3:20 per contest on the power play, notching 13 points with the extra man. That's particularly notable in this matchup, as the Kings have the 30th-ranked penalty kill.

Nico Hischier, NJD vs. OTT ($5,600): Hischier has started 53.8 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, second most among New Jersey forwards (behind the long-injured Taylor Hall). Speaking of Hall, even without him for a big chunk of the year the first-overall pick has 42 points in 56 games. Oh, and the Senators have a 4.38 road GAA, if you needed further enticement.

WING

Kyle Palmieri, NJD vs. OTT ($6,400): Hey, the Senators have a 4.38 road GAA. Why wouldn't you want more than one Devil in your lineup? Palmieri is tearing it up, as he has 26 goals in 60 games, including 11 on the power play. In addition to their woeful GAA, Ottawa ranks 28th in penalty-kill percentage.

Bryan Rust, PIT vs. SAN ($5,300): The Penguins either have expensive players on the wing or guys who are struggling. Then there's Rust, who is right in the Goldilocks zone. In addition to skating on Sidney Crosby's wing, Rust has five points in his last six games. Meanwhile, San Jose has a Jekyll-and-Hyde thing going on with its home/road splits, as it has a 3.61 GAA in away contests.

William Nylander, TOR vs. WAS ($4,500): Since ending his holdout, Nylander has started 56.2 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, second most on the Maple Leafs. Though he's gotten off to a slow start, he does have nine points in his last 12 games. Also, he has a 4.8 shooting percentage, which feels bound to improve. The Capitals may score a lot of goals, but they also have a 3.45 road GAA, bottom 10 in the league.

DEFENSE

Thomas Chabot, OTT at NJD ($5,400): Chabot is one of the only good Senators that doesn't seem to be on the trade block. That's probably because the young defenseman seems like a keeper, as he has 46 points in 51 games. Though they aren't as bad as the Senators defensively, the Devils have a 3.42 GAA, and also an .892 save percentage.

Jeff Petry, MON vs. PHI ($4,000): Is Carter Hart hitting a speed bump? It may be a small-sample size, but the impressive rookie does have a 3.80 GAA and .893 save percentage in his last four starts. Petry has 38 points in 60 games, an impressive total for a defenseman. He's also averaged 2:54 per game with the extra man, and the Flyers have the 27th-ranked penalty kill.
