Saturday's all-day NHL slate is a sizable one, with 11 games on tap starting at 1:00 PM Eastern time. Read on to see which players stand out from the pack as options to target at their respective prices and which ones are best avoided here.
GOALIE
Martin Jones, SJ at CLS ($26): Jones has seven wins in his past nine starts, holding six of those opponents to two goals or fewer. Despite that recent success -- including a shutout at Pittsburgh in his last start -- Jones can be had for just $26. A Blue Jackets team that's playing the second leg of a back-to-back will have a hard time stunting Jones' momentum.
GOALIE TO AVOID
Robin Lehner, NYI at VAN ($40): Lehner's given up at least two goals in each of his past seven starts, including four in Edmonton in his last start. The Islanders have dropped the first two legs of their trip through Western Canada, so Lehner will have a hard time living up to his exorbitant $40 price tag as the trip continues against a Canucks club that's hanging around the playoff conversation in the West.
CENTER
Ryan Johansen, NSH vs. COL ($21): Johansen leads the Predators with 13 power-play points and has a great opportunity to build on that total here. The visiting Avs have one of the league's 10 most generous penalty kills and are playing their second game in as many nights. Johansen is also a well-rounded player with a high floor, as illustrated by his plus-8 rating.
CENTER TO AVOID
Claude Giroux, PHI vs. PIT ($24): Giroux has been off his game for a while despite his team's recent success, getting on the scoresheet in only five of his last 14 games while getting blanked in each of the past four. If you insist on using a Flyers center against their intrastate rivals, Sean Couturier makes more sense. Couturier comes $1 cheaper than Giroux and has points in 16 of his last 19 games.
WINGS
Jonathan Huberdeau, FLA vs. LA ($21): He hasn't been quite as hot as his teammate Aleksandar Barkov (five goals, four assists), but Huberdeau's three goals and three assists over the past three games are nothing to scoff at. Huberdeau was generating offense at a high rate even before he started getting rewarded on the scoresheet, firing 31 shots on net over his past seven games. He should continue to build on his recent momentum against a Kings team that's just 11-16-4 on the road.
Andreas Johnsson, TOR vs. MON ($17): Johnsson has been a tremendous source of offense recently, piling up six goals and 10 points in his last eight games. His strong play hasn't gone unnoticed by coach Mike Babcock, who has rewarded Johnsson with increased ice time in each of his past two games. Johnsson has taken advantage of the extended opportunities, most recently recording a goal on 10 shots in 18:09 of ice time. He should keep rolling in this matchup with a rival Canadiens club against which he delivered a goal, an assist and a plus-3 rating in their most recent, Feb. 9 meeting.
WINGS TO AVOID
Andrei Svechnikov, CAR at DAL ($16): Svechnikov doesn't play enough to justify his $16 valuation, especially with four other Hurricanes wingers priced between $18 and $20 who are all rolling right now. The Russian rookie has skated 13:11 or less in each of his past three games while eclipsing 15 minutes of ice time only once in his past 10 games.
Brad Marchand, BOS at STL ($29): Marchand has been significantly better at home than on the road this season, with 46 points (16 goals) in 31 games at TD Garden and just 25 points (eight goals) in 29 contests elsewhere. He's spent way too much time focusing on extracurricular activities rather than scoring on the road, recording 70 of his 86 PIM this season in away matches. Narrowing the gap in his scoring splits will be exceedingly difficult against a Blues team that's won 11 of its last 12 games and employs Jordan Binnington (1.75 GAA, .931 save percentage) in net.
DEFENSEMEN
Tony DeAngelo, NYR vs. NJ ($17): DeAngelo's starting to showcase the puck-moving skills that made him a first-round selection in the 2014 draft, with six helpers over an active five-game point streak and eight points in his past nine appearances. The Rangers should continue to lean on the talented defenseman after trusting him with over 22 minutes of ice time in each of the past three games, and that significant role should translate to more production against a visiting Devils team that's just 8-19-3 on the road.
John Carlson, WAS at BUF ($24): Carlson scores enough to make the vast majority of the league's forwards jealous (55 points in 60 games, including six points in the last four), plus he offers strong defensive value with 45 blocked shots in his past 15 games and a plus-15 rating this season. His all-around ability gives Carlson a high floor, but the high ceiling that comes from his robust offensive ability is what makes him worth paying $24 for against a reeling Sabres team that's won only five times in its last 17 games.
DEFENSEMEN TO AVOID
Mattias Ekholm, NSH vs. COL ($19): Ekholm's offense has dried up recently, as he's reverted back to being the mediocre producer he was before a hot first half of the season, with five points and no multi-point outings in his last 14. With no shortage of enticing alternatives to choose from along Nashville's blue line, there's little reason to turn to Ekholm here.
Kevin Shattenkirk, NYR vs. NJ ($18): Shattenkirk has had a rough year, averaging just 4.6 fantasy points per game. While New Jersey's not a formidable opponent, Shattenkirk's not worth paying up for at $18 given the low floor he's demonstrated with fewer than 2.0 fantasy points in six of his last 11 games.
