DraftKings NHL: Wednesday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

The NHL schedule is quite busy down the stretch, but Wednesday is a lighter slate. There are only four games on the docket. Nevertheless, here are my recommendations for your daily fantasy lineup.

GOALIE

Philipp Grubauer, COL vs. VGK ($7,100): Semyon Varlamov's struggles have led to Grubauer getting more starts recently. Fortunately for the Avalanche, he's been playing some of the best hockey of his career. Over his last 10 starts he has a 1.10 GAA and .966 save percentage. It's about the time of the year for riding a hot goalie. Why not get in on the fun?

CENTER

Sean Couturier, PHI vs. TOR ($6,600): Couturier has been scorching recently, as he has 17 points in his last 15 games. That's no fluke, either, as he has 73 points in 74 contests on the season. Meanwhile, March has been a bad month for Toronto's defense. In 12 games, the Leafs have a 3.67 GAA.

Nolan Patrick, PHI vs. TOR ($4,500): That's right, two Flyers centers! Patrick, a second-overall pick, isn't quite as prolific as Couturier, but his linemates have some real pedigree. The 20-year-old is currently centering a line with Claude Giroux and James van Riemsdyk. I just told you that the Leafs have a 3.67 GAA since March. If you want a slightly-larger sample size, they have a 3.27 GAA since the All-Star break.

WING

Alexander Radulov, DAL at CGY ($6,400): Radulov has been back on a line with Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn, but regardless of where he's lined up he's impressed this season. He's notched 63 points in 64 games, including 17 with the extra man. Meanwhile, the Flames have had some strange defensive issues at home. They have a 3.13 GAA in their own arena.

Jake DeBrusk, BOS vs. NYR ($4,500): DeBrusk hasn't regained his hot form after missing five games, but he still has 23 goals in 62 contests. Plus, he's started 65.0 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, most among Boston forwards. As for the Rangers, they have a 3.81 GAA in away games. They also have given up 35.9 shots on net per contest in those outings.

Alex Kerfoot, COL vs. VGK ($3,700): Due to injury, Kerfoot has recently been moved up to skating alongside Nathan McKinnon on Colorado's top line. He's notched three points in his last two games, two of which came on the power play. That gives him 14 points with the extra man. Vegas is a mediocre team defensively away from home. They have a 3.05 GAA and .897 save percentage in road contests.

DEFENSE

Morgan Rielly, TOR at PHI ($6,000): Rielly has hit all sorts of personal bests this season. He's notched 20 goals, 50 assists, and put 208 shots on net in 76 games. Those shots are noteworthy heading into this matchup with the Flyers. Since the All-Star break they've given up 36.4 shots on net per contest.

Shayne Gostisbehere, PHI vs. TOR ($5,300): It's been a trying season at times for Gostisbehere, but he does have eight points in his last nine games. Of course, he's been helped by the fact he's started 56.8 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone (highest on the Flyers) and averaged 3:28 per game with the extra man.  Throw in Toronto's 3.67 GAA in March, and it wouldn't be surprising if Ghost stays hot.
