Yahoo DFS Hockey: Saturday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

Saturday features 14 NHL games, 11 of which will be played in the evening. This article focuses on the latter contests. It's already getting to be a turning point in the season, and teams are fearful of falling behind the pack -- the Maple Leafs became the first team to fire their head coach this year Wednesday. There's plenty of action tonight, so read on to help stake your claim in the DFS arena.

GOALIE

Carey Price, MON vs. NYR ($32): Price hasn't had any signature performances in November, as he's yielded at least two goals in each start, and his .909 save percentage is far from flashy. The Rangers are an appealing opponent though, as they rank 30th in the league during the month with 46.62 high-danger/scoring chances per 60. Price has been superb against the Blueshirts in his career, too, posting an 18-7-1 record and .931 save percentage.

GOALIE TO AVOID

Robin Lehner, CHI at DAL ($31): Lehner has proved his success with the Isles wasn't dependent on Barry Trotz's defensive scheme last year, as he has a .934 save percentage so far. The Stars may affect his mojo however, as they lead the league in November with 3.55 GF/60 at even strength, per Natural Stat Trick.

CENTER

Brock Nelson, NYI at SJ ($18): Nelson has pocketed three straight multi-point games, compiling four goals and three assists while directing 14 shots on net. This isn't a standard rate for Nelson, who notched a career-high 53 points last season, but the 27-year-old's in line for another productive outing against San Jose's 3.43 goals allowed per game.

CENTER TO AVOID

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, EDM at VGK ($18): The Connor McDavid-Leon Draisaitl line is the talk of the town, but Nugent-Hopkins toils on the second unit. It's tough to crack Marc-Andre Fleury anyway, but Vegas is playing excellent defense in front of him, allowing the sixth-fewest high-danger/scoring chances over the last two weeks.

WING

Teuvo Teravainen, CAR vs. FLA ($21): Teravainen's off to a hot start and another career high in points is well within reach. A big thanks goes to his increase in shot volume, as he's firing the puck nearly three times per game. The 25-year-old is garnering worthy opportunities as well with a 61.3 Corsi For percentage and 55.2 percent of his shifts starting in the offensive zone. Look for him to take advantage of Florida's 3.50 GAA this year.

David Perron, STL vs. NSH ($17): Perron's second only to Brayden Schenn for the team lead in goals with 10, and four have come with the man advantage. The veteran winger has lit the lamp in each of his past two outings, too, and he's poised to continue that momentum against Nashville's league-worst penalty kill (71 percent).

WINGS TO AVOID

Viktor Arvidsson, NSH at STL ($22): After three straight seasons with at least 29 goals, Arvidsson's off to a slow start and hasn't lit the lamp in seven games. The Swedish winger is shooting a lot less with just a touch over two shots per contest, falling well short of last year's 3.36 mark. Getting a leg up on St. Louis is difficult, as it ranks fifth with 2.61 GA per outing.

Zach Parise, MIN at BOS ($18): Parise's starting to heat up lately with three double-digit fantasy performances over the last four contests. However, he's in line for regression on his 16.7 percent shooting rate, and it may surface against the Bruins and Tuukka Rask, who's logged a .931 save percentage this year.

DEFENSE

Miro Heiskanen, DAL vs. CHI ($19): Heiskanen has headed the Stars' resurgence, as he leads all defensemen in November with 0.52 expected goals per 60 minutes. The 20-year-old brings a five-game point streak into this matchup, and he shoots enough to provide a solid floor.

Anthony DeAngelo, NYR at MON ($17): DeAngelo paces the Blueshirts with six power-play points, and he'll look to leverage that against Montreal's 29th-ranked penalty kill (72.5 percent). The 2014 first rounder has been red hot lately too, with eight points over the past seven contests.

DEFENSEMEN TO AVOID

Erik Karlsson, SJ vs. NYI ($23): It's been tough to depend on Karlsson this season. His play has been flaky, and he's failed to post a point in five of the last 10 games. The Islanders are at it again with a strong defense -- they rank fourth in the league with 2.45 GA per contest -- so Karlsson could have another unproductive night.

Zdeno Chara, BOS vs. MIN ($18): Chara's churning out a solid effort at 42 years old, as he's already posted nine points -- it took him until February to hit that mark last season. The seasoned blueliner is bound to fall back to earth however, as his 46.6 Corsi For percentage is the worst of his career and he's starting just 41.9 percent of shifts in the offensive zone.
