FanDuel NHL: Saturday Targets

FanDuel NHL: Saturday Targets

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

We're halfway through January, and today is a busy day around the NHL with 13 games on the docket. However, just focusing on the evening slate with the ones starting at 7 p.m. ET or later will still leave you with nine contests. That's what I'm tackling with my DFS recommendations.

SLATE PREVIEW

Talking offensive extremes, the Avs are facing the Coyotes. It also happens to be the second game between those two teams in as many days, though they've flipped from Denver to Phoenix (or wherever the Coyotes actually play). There are two other teams on a back-to-back, with the Stars and Ducks on the road for the second straight night.

GOALIES

Igor Shesterkin, NYR at PHI ($7,800): Shesterkin just returned to action and put up a shutout, which means he's managed two in a row - albeit with 11 days in between. Overall, he's produced a 1.99 GAA and .939 save percentage. The Flyers, meanwhile, have only managed 2.56 goals per game.

Marc-Andre Fleury, CHI vs. ANA ($7,200): I'm taking a shot on Fleury because he's at home against a team on the second leg of a back-to-back. The Ducks were in Minnesota and now have to get back into action in Chicago. Fleury has been up-and-down this year, but has a 2.60 GAA and .916 save percentage over his last eight starts.

Jonathan Quick, LOS at SEA ($7,100): Quick has rejuvenated himself at 35 having posted a 2.38 GAA and .921 save percentage. The American is not really slowing down either with a 2.39/.917 line since the start of December. Seattle ranks 24th in goals per game, but only 30th in shots on net.

VALUE PLAYS

Alex Killorn, TAM vs. DAL ($5,700): Killorn hasn't come out of nowhere considering he registered 26 goals and 49 points two seasons ago. But he's been even better this year with 35 points across 39 contests. Jake Oettinger and Braden Holtby have both been quite good for the Stars. Ah, but Oettinger started Friday (and was pulled) and Holtby is out. That means Anton Khudobin may be in net, and he struggled to an .873 save percentage before last night's relief appearance.

Kailer Yamamoto, EDM vs. OTT ($3,500): Yamamoto got hot on Edmonton's recent road trip with six points in six games while playing on Leon Draisaitl's wing. Can he stay hot at home against the Senators and their 3.60 GAA?

LINE STACKS TO CONSIDER

Rangers at Flyers: Mika Zibanejad (C - $7,400), Chris Kreider (W - $7,600), Kaapo Kakko (W - $4,100)

The Flyers have gotten a few key contributors back, but they've struggled defensively all season with a 3.31 GAA while also giving up a league-high 35.1 shots on net per contest. That porous D bodes well for the Rangers' top line.

Want to talk about putting pucks on goal? Zibanejad has produced 38 shots over his last 10 outings along with 13 points. Kreider is racking up goals left and right, with 23 of them, including 12 on the power play. While he maintains a 19.5 shooting percentage, it could be sustainable based on his 19.6 mark last year. Kakko hasn't yet panned out since being a second-overall pick, but he does have five points in his last 10.

Red Wings vs. Sabres: Dylan Larkin (C - $7,700), Tyler Bertuzzi (W - $6,800), Lucas Raymond (W - $4,900)

Allowing 34.0 shots on net per game? That's bad. Being down ostensibly your top-four goalies? That's worse. That's also the situation the Sabres are in with Aaron Dell atop the depth chart. He comes in with an .887 save percentage this season, and over his last four campaigns hasn't impressed with an .894.

Larkin has recorded 16 goals and 16 assists on the year while also racking up 36 shots from his last 11 contests. Bertuzzi opened with a four-goal game and has contributed eight more across his last nine. Raymond has enjoyed an incredible campaign for a teenager with 30 points, including six with the extra man.

DEFENSE

Devon Toews, COL at ARI ($6,500): Toews has tallied 24 points and will be on the road for the second leg of a back-to-back, though both teams traveled from Denver. Also, the Coyotes carry the league's highest GAA.

Matt Roy, LOS at SEA ($4,800): Roy has notched 13 assists, a nice number for a defenseman. He may have no goals, but he's produced 98 shots and should eventually find the back of the net. Plenty of players are scoring against the Kraken with their 3.67 GAA thanks to the league's lowest team save percentage.

Mikhail Sergachev, TAM vs. DAL ($4,700): Sergachev has accumulated four assists from his last four to give him 18 points on the season. And while Ryan McDonagh has been out, the Russian has logged a larger role. I mentioned earlier the goaltending situation for the Stars based on the fact they're on the second of consecutive nights.
