May sign overseas
Prokhorkin, whose KHL rights were traded from SKA St. Petersburg to Metallurg Magnitogorsk on Thursday, is nearing a two-year contract with his new club, per Kings beat writer John Hoven.
ANALYSIS
Prokhorkin is set to become an NHL restricted free agent this offseason after playing in 43 games for the Kings in 2019-20. The 26-year-old notched four goals and 10 helpers over that stretch but averaged just 12:06 of ice time in a bottom-six role. Even if he does sign with Metallurg, the Kings will likely hand the Russian a qualifying offer in order to retain his NHL rights.
