Sergei Shumakov

Shumakov has been champing at the bit for a chance to play in the NHL. The Russian dropped jaws for his immaculate 2017-18 output in the KHL that included 17 goals, 23 assists, and a league-best plus-28 rating for CSKA Moscow, and he's closer to hockey's highest level, agreeing to a one-year, two-way entry-level contract with the Capitals in September. While a roster spot won't simply be handed to him, Shumakov at the very least provides scoring depth for a team that ranked dead last in shots per game (29.0) during the regular season but still managed to win the Stanley Cup.
