Latest Fantasy Rumors
Might still be traded before July 1
Vancouver might continue to listen to offers for Miller until his no-movement clause takes effect July 1, per Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Vancouver and Pittsburgh were reportedly in talks to trade Miller before the trade deadline, but ultimately nothing came of that. He signed a seven-year, $56 million contract with the Canucks that starts with the 2023-24 campaign and includes a no-movement clause, so once that takes effect, Miller will have control over his situation. The 29-year-old doesn't have trade protection before July 1 though, so if the Canucks decide that it's in their best interests to move him, they'll want to pull the trigger before that date. It's unlikely that anything will happen before the end of the season though. Although technically a trade can take place anytime after the deadline, any player dealt at this point would be ineligible for their new team's 2023 playoff roster, and consequently contenders wouldn't have any interest in him in the short term. Miller has 21 goals and 56 points in 62 contests in 2022-23.

Miller was a mid-round steal for fantasy owners a year ago, as his 99 points (32 goals) in 80 games placed him ninth in the league in scoring. The Canucks missed the playoffs and stud running mate Elias Pettersson managed just 68 points in 80 games, but Miller more than filled the void. His immense scoring totals were buoyed by 38 power-play points which tied Miller with Victor Hedman and Jonathan Huberdeau for third in the NHL behind only Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Miller's 206 shots on goal were also by far a new high-water mark. Miller is a good player but expecting a repeat performance of a season ago is a recipe for potential disaster. Miller was in trade rumors both at the deadline last year and all offseason, but it appears as if he will open the season with the Canucks. Miller is scheduled for unrestricted free agency in the summer of 2023.
