Ryu began his professional career with Hanwha in 2006 before leaving for Major League Baseball following the 2012 campaign. He proceeded to spend the next 11 seasons in MLB between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays, accruing a 3.27 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 1,055.1 innings.
