Cruises to fourth title defense
MacFarlane defeated Kate Jackson via unanimous decision (50-45, 50-44, 50-44) at Bellator 236 on Dec. 21 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
ANALYSIS
MacFarlane once again showed she's one of Bellator's most dominant champions while making her fourth title defense on home turf. It was the first title defense in which she didn't finish her opponent, but it was still a convincing victory, as she swept the scorecards of all three judges. Her work on the feet was commendable, as usual, but MacFarlane did most of her damage while on the ground, advancing to full mount on multiple occasions. She wasn't invincible throughout and even thanked her opponent for punching her in the face afterwards, but Jackson was never able to truly gain momentum. MacFarlane will continue to be a big favorite against whomever Bellator elects to match her up against.

Retains title at Bellator 220
MacFarlane defeated Veta Arteaga via TKO (cut) at 1:50 of Round 3 at Bellator 220 on Saturday in San Jose.
ANALYSIS
MacFarlane entered this fight a betting favorite as high as (-1200), but Arteaga was a game opponent who managed to survive the early grappling tests from MacFarlane. The first round seemed to go to the champion due to her grappling ability, particularly when she threatened with a serious heel hook attempt. The second was more of the same for MacFarlane, though that frame may have been up for grabs after Arteaga landed an elbow off her back that appeared to cut the champion. It didn't matter how the judges scored it, however, as MacFarlane converted a takedown early in the third, which led to a hard elbow that gashed open the face of Arteaga. The referee brought in the doctor to examine, and he ended up waiving the fight off due to the cut. It was the third consecutive title defense for the undefeated flyweight.

Letourneau was game and scrambled back to her feet. Once they returned to the feet, Letourneau went to work with her striking and seemed to be pulling ahead in the fight. However, the third round was a different story. Macfarlane scored an early takedown and began chaining submission attempts together. She started with a rear-naked choke, transitioned into an armbar and finally ended up with a triangle choke which ended the fight. Macfarlane retained the Bellator flyweight title, remains undefeated and she is quickly becoming the most marketable homegrown fighter in Bellator.

She began raining down punches, before going for an armbar. Lara fought the hold hard and survived for an extended period of time. However, she eventually submitted. Macfarlane will continue to lord over Bellator's deepest women's division. Her next fight will likely be against former UFC title challenge Valerie Letourneau.
