Earns belt with snoozer
WelterweightPFL
November 28, 2022
Sy defeated Dilano Taylor via unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 49-46) at the 2022 PFL Championships to earn the welterweight title and take home a $1 million top prize.
ANALYSIS
Sy landed a head kick early that was likely his biggest moment of the entire fight, but both men were incredibly hesitant to engage from there, much to the dismay of the Madison Square Garden crowd. Still, Sy was able to do just enough to earn a big check in the low-volume affair. He won't win many fans for this effort, though his bank account certainly won't care about that. Sy has been with the PFL since 2018 but only recently has put it all together, as he now owns a four-fight winning streak that includes a signature victory over former UFC champion Rory MacDonald. He'll be a fighter to watch for in the 2023 tournament.

Somehow pulls out a draw and advances against Bruno Santos at PFL 10
WelterweightPFL
October 20, 2018
Sy fought to a majority draw with Bruno Santos (20-18, 19-19, 19-19) at PFL 10 on Saturday in Washington, D.C.
ANALYSIS
Sy tried to his best to stay of his feet, but he eventually gave up the takedown. Most of this fight was spent with Santos trying to score takedowns against the cage. He did not have very much luck until the second half of the second round. Sy was defensive basically the entire contest, and never had a chance to get going in any position. However, in the end, he did enough to advance per the judges. This was a very questionable decision.

Sy lost to Bruno Santos via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at PFL 3 on Thursday in Washington, DC.
ANALYSIS
Sy had a shot in this fight. His size, height and reach gave Santos a lot of trouble. He really could not get inside for long stretches of the fight. However, Sy never threw enough to win rounds. He forced his opponent to miss, but he did not come back with strikes of his own. This was his first fight at this level, and he did not rise to the occasion.
