Krantz has had his contract terminated by the UFC, Nolan King of MMAJunkie.USAToday.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Krantz went 24-12 in MMA competition before finally securing a UFC fight in May. Unfortunately, he lost his debut bout via a first-round TKO and then again suffered another defeat to Song Kenan via decision. That was apparently all the company needed to see in order to make the decision to move on.

Krantz lost to Kenan Song via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Shenzhen, China.
ANALYSIS
In your classic striker versus grappler matchup, Krantz's three successful takedowns and three passes weren't enough to earn the victory on the judge's scorecards. He may very well have a legitimate beef, but the issue for Krantz was the fact he landed just 13 total strikes in Round 3 compared to 41 from Song, and that was enough to put his opponent over the top. Fighters who lose their first two bouts with the company aren't always entitled at a third kick at the can, but Krantz was competitive enough on Saturday to likely earn another opportunity.

Krantz will take on Song Kenan in a welterweight matchup at UFC Shenzhen on Aug. 31.
ANALYSIS
Krantz was knocked out by a red-hot Vicente Luque in his short-notice UFC debut, but did manage to register a takedown against the surging welterweight prospect. He'll get another chance with the company but has to head into enemy territory, taking on a 29-year-old Chinese fighter who trains at Jackson-Wink in Albuquerque. He'll likely look to employ a wrestling-based strategy, as Kenan has only been able to defend half the takedowns attempted on him during a three-fight UFC run.

Krantz lost to Vicente Luque via TKO (strikes) at 3:32 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Rochester, New York.
ANALYSIS
Having taken this fight on just a few days notice after Neil Magny was yanked after failing a drug test, Krantz blitzed an unsuspecting Luque right after the opening bell rang, but it was all downhill from there. He did manage to briefly take Luque's back as well but was unable to do anything with his positional advantage. Krantz displayed enough in the brief bout to make him worth keeping an eye on when he is able to fight with a full training camp. His willingness to accept this bout guarantees he will get another shot with the company. The ceiling may be limited after bouncing around regional circuits and finally getting discovered on Dana White's "Lookin' for a Fight" at the age of 31, but this is a fighter that could surprise some people when given more reasonable opposition.
Set for short-notice debut

Krantz will make his UFC debut on short notice this Saturday, taking on Vicente Luque at UFC Fight Night 152 in Rochester, Nolan King of Flocombat reports.
ANALYSIS
Krantz is a veteran of more than 30 professional fights, but Saturday will mark the first taste of UFC action for the 31-year-old. He'll enter with a small height and reach disadvantage, but the real concern here is the fact he's taking on one of the promotion's hottest welterweights on less than a week's notice. The late notice will also make his weight cut worth checking up on. Luque was originally slated to square of against Neil Magny, but Magny withdrew late in the game due to an undisclosed injury. Krantz will take advantage of the opportunity to get in the UFC door, but look for him to enter as a sizable betting underdog. For what it's worth, he has faced fighters that have gone on to larger promotions, such as Charles Byrd (UFC), Derek Campos (Bellator), Andrey Koreshkov (Bellator), Sean Spencer (UFC) and current UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Dustin Poirier. The downside is that he came up on the losing end in four of the five aforementioned contests.
