Drops decision in Vegas
LightweightUFC
April 30, 2022
Connelly lost to Darren Elkins via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC on ESPN 35 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Connelly was unable to get out of the starting gate in his return from neck surgery. Elkins is known for his toughness and constant pressure, and he really put it on Connelly, barely allowing his opponent any room to breathe. Tristan struggled to gain separation and was taken down four times in the first ten minutes. Connelly is typically better on the mat than the feet, but he appeared exhausted for a good portion of the bout and never had an opportunity to threaten for any type of submission. The 36-year-old Canadian has been a member of the UFC roster since September 2019, but has fought just three times for the company, posting a 1-2 record.

Paired with Darren Elkins
LightweightUFC
February 17, 2022
Connelly (neck) will take on Darren Elkins on April 30, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Connelly joined the UFC in 2019 but has only fought twice for the promotion, winning his debut against Michel Pereira before losing to Pat Sabatini. He underwent neck surgery following his unanimous decision loss to Sabatini and will be fighting for the first time in just over a year when he eventually steps into the Octagon against Elkins.
Recovering from neck surgery
LightweightUFC
September 29, 2021
Connelly announced over the weekend via his personal Instagram account that he withdrew from his featherweight fight with Makwan Amirkhani at UFC 267 in Abu Dhabi on Oct. 30 after recently undergoing neck surgery.
ANALYSIS
Connelly is hoping to make a full recovery from the neck procedure over the fall and winter with the goal of returning to the Octagon early in 2022. The UFC added Lerone Murphy as a replacement for Connelly in the matchup with Amirkhani.
Withdraws from upcoming fight
LightweightUFC
September 7, 2021
Connelly withdrew from his upcoming fight against Makwan Amirkhani for undisclosed reasons Tuesday, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The pair had been set to meet in Abu Dhabi on Oct. 30. With the nature of Connelly's absence not yet clear, it's difficult to say when he'll be able to fight again. As the withdrawal took place nearly two months before the date of the fight, there's seemingly still time for Amirkhani to remain on the card against a different opponent.
Fighting at UFC 267
LightweightUFC
August 20, 2021
Connelly will take on Makwan Amirkhani in a featherweight matchup at UFC 267 on Oct. 30, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Connelly had a five-fight winning streak snapped in April when he lost to Pat Sabatini via unanimous decision at UFC 261, but he'll have a chance to bounce back in October. Amirkhani most recently lost to Kamuela Kirk via unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 28 in June. The two fighters are even in height, but Amirkhani has an edge in reach.
Five-fight winning streak snapped
LightweightUFC
April 24, 2021
Connelly lost to Pat Sabatini via unanimous decision (27-30, 28-29, 28-29) a UFC 261 on Saturday in Jacksonville.
ANALYSIS
On the sidelines for more than a year and a half due to neck surgery, Connelly was unable to replicate the success of his most recent bout, a unanimous decision victory over Michel Pereira back in September 2019. Of course, the Pereira fight came at welterweight, while this one took place at featherweight. Overall, Connelly simply struggled to deal with the physicality of Sabatini. His inability to consistently separate left the Canadian searching for offense. You aren't going to win many three-round fights when you spend nearly two of those rounds being controlled on the mat. The loss snaps a five-fight winning streak for Connelly.
