Bahamondes lost to L'udovit Klein via unanimous decision (27-30, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC on ESPN 50 on Saturday in Nashville.
ANALYSIS
Entering as a hefty -250 favorite, Bahamondes was never able to get on track. Ignacio was the man that entered with a significant size and reach edge, but it was Klein that repeatedly got inside without issue. Bahamondes' takedown defense was poor, as Klein was able to pin him to the match for long stretches at a time. Round 2 was the only one in which Bahamondes generated any sort of damage, but his gas tank seemed to evaporate in the process, allowing Klein to cruise to the finish line. Ignacio won't be 26 years of age until late-August, so he can afford to absorb a poor performance such as this. The defeat snaps a three-fight winning streak for Bahamondes.

All told, Bahamondes connected on 99 total strikes compared to just 42 from his opponent. A product of Dana White's Contender Series and the winner of three in a row, Bahamondes is a fighter to keep an eye on as 2023 progresses.
