Earns bonus after strong effort
Light HeavyweightUFC
September 29, 2019
Cutelaba defeated Khalil Rountree via TKO (elbows) at 2:35 of Round 1 at UFC Copenhagen on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Cutelaba ate a couple shots early, but was able to overcome them and power through to earn takedowns. While Rountree can be dangerous at a distance, Cutelaba used his wrestling to negate that advantage, earning credit for four takedowns on the evening. On what proved to be the final one, Cutelaba unleashed several hard elbows that forced referee Mark Goddard to step in and stop the fight. It was an excellent fantasy performance from the 25-year-old, who got back in the win column and earned a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for his efforts.

Will face Khalil Rountree
Light HeavyweightUFC
July 12, 2019
Cutelaba will face Khalil Rountree in a light heavyweight matchup at UFC Copenhagen on Sep. 28.
ANALYSIS
Cutelaba is coming off a loss at UFC Fight Night 150 to Glover Teixeira by a rear-naked choke submission. He was off to an excellent start in the striking department in that one, but was caught with a submission in the second period. Rountree has won two of his last three fights and is 8-3 overall throughout his professional career. Rountree looked like a new man in his last fight against Eryk Anders, and much of that can be attributed to him spending his camp in Thailand, which seemed to reinvigorate him as a striker. The two men match up nearly identically in terms of height and reach, but Cutelaba has the statistical edge in both striking volume and striking differential. The biggest factor deciding this fight will be whether Rountree can carry over the strides made in his standup game to a more talented opponent.
Runs out of gas in Fort Lauderdale
Light HeavyweightUFC
April 27, 2019
Cutelaba lost to Glover Teixeira via submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:37 of Round 2 at UFC Fort Lauderdale on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Cutelaba looked best at the early moments of this fight, where he was able to land a spinning back fist that dazed Teixeira. The veteran eventually recovered after attempting a takedown, and Cutelaba started to empty the gas tank in search of a finish. He was unable to do so, and didn't look like the same fighter in the second round. Teixeira took control of the center of the Octagon, landing many times before the shots that sent Cutelaba to the canvas. At that point, Cutelaba was out of his element, allowing Teixeira to swiftly pass guard and take his back, ultimately resulting in the fight-ending choke.

Cutelaba will take on Glover Teixeira at UFC on ESPN+ on Jan. 19 in Brooklyn, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Cutelaba is coming off a pair of first-round victories on either side of a six-month doping suspension. He knocked out Henrique da Silva just 22 seconds into their match at UFC Fight Night 110 in June, 2017 and beat Gadzhimurad Antigulov by TKO at UFC on Fox 30 in July. The Moldovan is 15 years younger than his opponent, the 39-year-old Brazilian, who has won just two of his last five fights.
