Rolls past Vicente Luque
WelterweightUFC
March 31, 2024
Buckley defeated Vicente Luque via TKO (punches) at 3:17 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Atlantic City.
ANALYSIS
The total incompetence of Luque certainly had something to do with it, but this was arguably Buckley's most impressive victory to date, and it's his third in a row dating back to May 2023. Buckley kept things simple, didn't expend a ton of energy and was able to win virtually every single striking exchange with his seemingly disinterested opponent. He was gifted the finish when Luque went for a takedown, decided to pull guard instead and ended up getting mounted. Still just 29 years of age, there are cardio concerns regarding Buckley, and he doesn't offer much if his power shots aren't landing, but he's most definitely improving inside the Octagon.

Buckley is scheduled to compete against Vicente Luque in a welterweight fight at UFC Atlantic City on March 30, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Buckley will fight a welterweight ranked in the UFC's rankings. Even better, Luque is the UFC's No. 9 welterweight contender, so a decisive win over him could establish Buckley as a top-10 fighter in the division. He will look to continue his excellence from 2023, which included wins over Andre Fialho (via second-round knockout) and Alex Morono (via unanimous decision).
Another strong performance
WelterweightUFC
October 7, 2023
Buckley defeated Alex Morono via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Two fights into his welterweight run, it's clear Buckley's long-term home should be 170 pounds. He destroyed Andre Fialho via head kick this past May and routed Morono here. Buckley is a massive individual. His power is high-end and his grappling underrated. If his cardio holds up -- and it did here -- he's a real threat in there. Buckley has enough natural ability that as long he throws plenty of volume, he'll stand a good chance of winning. The gas tank is the key to making all this work. The early returns are positive. Buck is clearly a fighter to keep an eye on as 2023 comes to a close.

Buckley will compete against Alex Morono in a welterweight fight at UFC Vegas 80 on Oct. 7, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Buckley will stay at welterweight and compete against an individual 5-1 across his last six fights. The former got back into winning ways by knocking out Andre Fialho at UFC Vegas 73. Ideally for Buckley, this positive momentum will continue in October.
Stars in return to welterweight
WelterweightUFC
May 20, 2023
Buckley defeated Andre Fialho via KO (head kick) at 4:15 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
A long time middleweight, Buckley looked excellent in his first fight at welterweight since September 2019. He apparently had no problems cutting down to 170 pounds and appeared healthy on fight night. Buckley was getting the better of a back-and-forth striking battle before taking it out of the judges hands with a massive head kick which floored Fialho and closed the show. Michael Bisping commented on the ESPN broadcast that it's clear welterweight is the division in which Buckley belongs, and he couldn't be more correct. Extremely strong with legitimate power and decent wrestling skills, Joaquin is a fighter to keep an eye on in his new digs.

Buckley will take on Andre Fialho at UFC Vegas 73 on May 20, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Buckely holds a 5-4 record with the UFC since debuting with the company in October of 2020. Heading into this bout, the 28-year-old is looking to bounce back from a two-fight losing streak. His opponent, Fialho, is looking to do the same.
