Murray said Wednesday that he's "pain free" following January hip surgery but put his odds at playing singles at Wimbledon this season at "less than 50 percent," BBC.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray said that his rehab "is slow but going well" and noted surgery was necessary if he were to keep his playing career alive. The 31-year-old still doesn't seem likely to play beyond 2019 after previously indicating his plan was to retire after Wimbledon, but he's leaving the door open for a comeback. At the moment, it may be more realistic for Murray to return to competitive action as a doubles player, which wouldn't place the same demand on his body as the singles game does.
