CiCi Bellis

25-Year-Old
Retires from tennis
January 19, 2022
Bellis announced Wednesday on Instagram that she has decided to retire from professional tennis.
ANALYSIS
The 22-year-old has dealt with an arm injury that seemingly won't heal for three years and hasn't played any matches since November of 2020. Bellis claimed eight professional titles before the injury and was destined for WTA-level success as her ranking reached as high as No. 35 in August of 2017. She's young enough where a comeback is always in play, but she noted in her farewell announcement that she's currently pursuing a college degree and also has plans to attend graduate school.
