Atkins missed just three total games over the the four seasons leading up to the 2023 campaign, but she missed 11 games with a left ankle sprain last year before also missing two matchups with a nose injury. The 27-year-old had somewhat inconsistent results when on the court and turned in her worst statistical performance since 2019, her second professional season. Over 27 appearances last year, Atkins averaged 11.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.2 steals in 25.1 minutes per game. However, she averaged over 30 minutes per game in the prior three seasons, so it wouldn't be surprising to see her playing time bounce back if she can remain healthy in 2024. Atkins' role could also grow since Elena Delle Donne is stepping away from basketball and Natasha Cloud is now in Phoenix. The Mystics have other solid contributors in Brittney Sykes and Shakira Austin, but Atkins would have an opportunity to take on more of a leading role without Delle Donne and Cloud in the mix. ANALYSIS
After a slow start to the campaign, Atkins started to pick things up at the end of June, posting 17.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists over a seven-game stretch from June 22 through July 8. However, her hot streak came to an end after spraining her ankle. She missed 11 straight contests due to the injury and wasn't consistently productive when she returned to action, scoring in double figures just six times over the team's final 12 regular-season matchups. Overall, it was one of Atkins' worst statistical seasons of her career, but her struggles were certainly exaggerated by the mid-season injury. She signed a two-year extension during the 2023 campaign, so Atkins should remain a focal point for the Mystics in 2024.

Playing in her fifth WNBA season, Atkins averaged 14.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.4 steals per game en route to her second consecutive All-Star appearance. Atkins shot 36.5 percent from beyond the arc and 84.5 percent at the free throw line on 2.9 attempts per game. Atkins once again projects to start at one forward spot alongside Elene Delle Donne for a Mystics team that finished 22-14 last season.
Atkins took on a larger share of the scoring burden last year than she had in any previous season, posting a career-high shot volume of 14.2 attempts per game and 6.1 tries per contest from beyond the arc. However, even the added volume didn't impact her efficiency much. Atkins's 40.7 field-goal percentage isn't far off from previous years, and her 35.9 percent mark from deep is right in line with previous campaigns. While Elena Delle Donne figures to take on some of the scoring load in 2022, Tina Charles' departure essentially offsets her return, so Atkins certainly has the ability to repeat her 2021 results.
